Texas county moves to save its health care system
The Collins Report ^ | May 19, 2010 | Kevin "Coach" Collins

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To ensure there will be enough resources to provide for its own legal residents Williamson County Texas has started requiring any indigent person seeking County paid for medical services to produce a valid Social Security number.

The County’s Commissioners suspected their local government has been taken advantage of by illegals, and the statistics from the first five months of its fiscal year have proved they were right. Their investigation showed just under 23% of the 1153 indigent people it provided medical services to did not have a valid Social Security number; all but assuring they are not in America legally.

Texas law requires counties to set aside and spend up to 8% of their general tax receipts to pay for medical care for the poor. In Williamson County’s case that amounted to $7.1 million this fiscal year which started last October 1.

When Williamson spent $4 million (more than half its set aside for the entire year) in just six months alarm bells sounded. When the County had to grudgingly set aside another $3million at its April 27 meeting the new regulation was passed.

Medicaid won’t reimburse

The problem faced by Williamson County and local governments across the country comes down to a Medicaid ruling that it won’t reimburse health care providers seeking to get paid for services provided to anyone who does not have a valid Social Security number. This ruling is choking hospitals to death because they are caught between it and the ever raising costs of running a medical facility.

Prior to passing its new regulation...

Dallas County won’t do that. I think half the babies born at Parkland are from illegal parents.

I've heard 70% of the babies born at Ben Taub (Houston, Harris County) are born to illegals.

You will love this story! Yesterday in Sugar Land, a retired police officer spots his stolen truck on the highway. It is a BRIGHT Yellow, hard to miss - so he chases it down, all over the highways, backroads, etc. Finally he has other officers joining in the chase and they corner the truck and out jump FIFTEEN illegals....fifteen in one truck! Seriously a clown car.

They round them up and I feel certain the sanctuary city of Houston will turn them loose soon so they can steal from another citizen

Well, an Austin PD officer had his car broken into and his badges stolen. He had a shotgun in the vehicle, but they left that when they abandoned the car.

BTW, check out this thread about the Austin [Mohamed Lahlou] arsonist.

Investigators say arsonist may be mentally disturbed

I believe the last reports were over 70% of baby births at each of these two hospitals (Ben Taub - Harris County and Parkland - Dallas County) were to illegals!

Parkland also has been on record that close to 40% of their ER care is to people who do not reside within Dallas county - and it is the COUNTY hospital. You know, “Taking the ‘free’ health care, that Americans won’t take!”

Or more like, “Taking the ‘free’ health care, to which Americans are not entitled!”

The hospital in the “place called Hope” Arkansas seems to be closing. Mexicans are everywhere.

All it means is they’ll go to the Seton ER for free care.

Fifteen? Naw, that must have been a slow day. You’d think with all the prison units there, they’d have stolen from a different town with less law enforcement employees/pickup owners.

“I’ve posted that Austin was a sanctuary city and ever time get blasted by some 0bot whining that it isn’t.”

Who might that *Obot* be? I would love to have a little conversation with them.

Williamson (where we live) has always been rather over-the-top in it's policing duties. I'm surprised that haven't seen this coming for a while.

Kudos to them.

Sorry, can’t remember but it’s happened a couple times. Must be one of those who frequent Hippie Hollow and have a “Keep Austin Weird” bumper sticker.

It was. That’s one reason I don’t go over to the Texas page page much.

Actually this was in Fort Bend County, which is largely republican - if they had been in Harris County, they would still be driving that truck

Ft. Bend has several units of the state prison TDCJ along with all the other law enforcement officers. Not a good place to commit a crime.

No Way! I can’t imagine who it could be.

FReepmail me if you remember. I would still like to hear their BS.

BTW: as far as I’m concerned, you are most welcome on the Texas board.
