Great job on this one, Race!
God bless you and ViperAsh and honest people everywhere!
Liars go down in flames.
Thanks for the addition.
There is a separate code for MCL members (see picture of detachment members at the link to Hardeare City Detachment). BTW, I have never heard of an MCL detachment named for other than heros (Chesty Puller, John Basilone, Thomas Holcomb (my detachment), etc.).
The non-political stance, coupled with their identification as MCL members, violates their oath.
Correction to my previous post: MCL detachments are named for areas of the state AND heros.
MCL HQ has disaccociated themselves. See statement at:

I am still too groggy to make this coherent, but I hope this works.
Good morning by the way! :)
Kristinn made a great summation in this thread:

Basically:
Blumenthal lied abut his service and acted like he apologized that we misunderstood him in that video and how he let newspapers make misprints that he did nothing to correct over 5 years.
Then, he has his sycophant friends line the stage and one of them is a genuine combat vet who LIED himself about his record to sell his books on PTSD. His name is William Trumphower and goes by the pen name Elliot Storm and is a part of a veterans group that follows Blumenthal.

NOW, the NATIONAL VFW is in an uproar over Blumy using a VFW, an organization that Blumy is unqualified to join, as his venue to apologize

AND, the Marine Corps League is going to have a say over members wearing their MCL Jackets, specifically Peter Galgano from the New Britain Hardware City Detachment, the one I once belonged to

Why am I not surprised???
This is what’s known as a photo opportunity.
I am active with the American Legion and it amazes me how many characters claim to have been in the “thick of combat”. It’s like the Army had no company clerks, mechanics, cooks etc. No disrespect meant toward those honorable military occupational specialties as they were essential to any war effort but please...give me a break.
My Dad was a combat vet, I was a peacetime soldier who trained to standard as a deterrent to a shooting war during the Cold War, my brother was rejected from enlistment for medical reasons. We all made ourselves available to serve our country and did our duty. We all can look any man in the eye and feel no need to exagerate our role.
Bob, my theory is that he indeed had the credentials to be in the VFW (and no doubt they were valid) and then later on advanced to Post Commander.
As time passed and Iraq/Afghanistan war vets came into various organizations, it is possible he felt the need to “enhance” his service to these younger combat veterans. I think many of us has seen this sort of thing.
Burkett’s book “Stolen Valor” has accounts of vets who served honorably otherwise fabricating claims of heroism, feats and experiences that were made of whole cloth. When it comes to this phenomena of phony POWs, that must be a whole psychological study in itself.
Blumenthal is a liar. You are correct and I would never besmirch the VFW. My father loved them and also the DAV.
What I saw was an old friend that believed Blumenthal's bullsh#t. There was a couple of guys on the stage or behind him that were a pretty sad sight. I feel sorry for them. They are the loyal friend of a liberal, lying sack of human excrement.
He knows EXACTLY what he said. He wanted the "glory" of combat without the potential sacrifice it entails. I am reminded of the quote, "There is nothing more exhilarating than to be shot at without result. " Winston Churchill
He wanted the vicarious feeling of bravery and honor by mooching at funerals, attending parades and on and on. He is PATHETIC and with a son in the Marines knows that he has NO HONOR.
Perhaps I misplaced my words, what I meant to say was that this so called Marine, brought dishonor to himself, his God, his Country and the Corps. By dragging out others to cover for him he showed himself to be a coward and deceiver of the highest order and deserves our loathing.
Of course it reminds me of when I returned from the Bay of Pigs, Vietnam, Lebanon, Nicaragua, Panama, Grenada, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, Afghanistan, Philippines and of course all the places that I came back from that are too secret to tell you without clearance, cause doncha know that I was in the Marine Corp LRPR, sniper, SEAL's, CIA, Force Recon part of the Marine Corps.... In fact Blumenthal and I were on a couple of secret missions together... so I can vouch for him. /sarc
Man those words are slippery and I must admit that I might have misplaced some of them and misspoke others. But I will not let any of you tarnish my 4 year exposure to the Marine Corps with the facts about a few misplace words. Of course I was just a little old 0321 in a modern world, what did I know. yeah, yeah, yeah.. I know I didn't do the nickel (full 5 years) but something came up.
hahahahaaha...
Ha, Good Post!
Bloviating Blumenthal
or
Blumenthal the Bloviator
Blasphemy!
Wow. Served all of 15 months? Must be a real performer... /s
Hey Pat, How about taking this one on! The Connecticut Primary comes up on August 10th! Lets get a conservative to the Senate from my birth state, the Nutmeg State! :)
I then told him that maybe 27 was the wrong number and that maybe it was the number of his SEAL platoon. But he informed me that there were only 12 guys in his entire SEAL team. WTF?? I wanted to take him out for a swim but was afraid his fat ass would drown. I hate these losers. As a disclaimer, I am not and could never be a SEAL cause I f'ng hate being cold.
Posers aren't gentleman.
Thanks for the ping!
“That’s OK, I’m less forgiving, pissed off, and hurt so much that you can only kill me to stop me...and that’s on a good day!!”
Me too!
