Seems he overstayed his welcome. Sad another family possibly torn apart.

Marlin Stutzman would be my choice.

Marlin Stutzman lives in this district and it should go to him.

Well, he didn't earn it, unfortunately. There was a primary, Thomas got second place. Maybe he is "vile scum" but he got far more votes than anybody but Souder. The will of the people is pretty clear.

Whether Stutzman is better or not (and I will trust you on that), we don't need an NY-23 situation unnecessarily. There is more to be lost by appointing someone from out of the blue. There was a clear second-place in the primary.

You would think that ol’ Saul’s maxim would work with respect to workplace sexual harassment.

Alas...

Well, in a just world:

...all Republicans who champion "social conservatism" and oppose sex with anyone other than a marriage partner of the opposite gender, would have to resign the instant they get unzipped with anyone other than their spouse...

....and Democrats would have to resign the instant they cheat on their taxes by as much as a penny.

But it's not a just world, is it?

If this guy is resigning because of a scandal, why is Charlie Rangel, who is vastly more corrupt, with far bigger scandals, still sitting in the congress?

Because he is a Democrat.

Being democrat means never having to say you’re sorry.

Klansman Robert Byrd, Waitress Sandwich Dodd, Cold Cash Jefferson, Tax Cheat Tim Geitner,Land Speculator Ried, Road side stop Gay American ex Gov. of NJ, Client # 7? ex Gov of New York, etc. etc. etc.

Charlie is in his element, I’d say.

Saul’s maxim: “All systems tend to work against their intended purpose.” (I had to look that up.) How so?

This isn’t a case of ‘if for some reason the winner cannot serve, the second place finisher will take over.’

That isn’t how it works. Marlin Stutzman lives in the district.

Bob Thomas doesn’t.

Want some more?

I know what Stutzman was running for, and I know that Thomas came in second in the primary against Souder. But if there’s a vacancy, I would think that Stutzman would be interested (after all, it was Stutzman, not Thomas, being talked about being Souder’s replacement if he retired in 2012), and he’d likely win handily against Thomas.

Republican voters have standards. Democrats? Not so much.
