Former First Lady Laura Bush has come out against the Arizona immigration law, pointing to the discrimination that her own Irish ancestors, named Welch, faced in their time.
In an interview with Fox News, Bush said the new law merely showed an upsurge in prejudice similar to what her Irish ancestors faced.

“Love or Hate Bush and his family you have to admit they have respect for the office of the president and they carry themselves with class.”
Whoopee shit. O.K., because of their being “classy” all of their screw-ups and idiotic statements are forgiven. That kind of thinking has gotten us into the mess we are in now. As Rush has said many times, “symbolism over substance sucks”
It’s a lame attempt to discourage your way of thought. They certainly cannot do it with the hopey/changey guy.
It is the only logical conclusion one can come to. I came to that conclusion about the Better Half, some years ago, during that cock-of-the-walk "See You At The Signing" crap of his a few years back.
Truly, truly, THE ENEMY WITHIN.
George W. Bush loves amnesty. Apparently, so does his pinhead wife.
Did the interviewer point out that Laura's Irish ancestors were legal. Did he/she point out that the AZ law virtually mirrors federal law?
I suspect not.
No, “welsh” or “welsch” and its variants is simply ancient Germanic for “stranger” or “foreigner.” To the Anglo-Saxon invaders (illegal immigrants, one might say), the original Britons (well, I suppose they illegally invaded too, but in pre-historic times—the Anglo-Saxon invasion is better-recorded) were the “furriners,” the goofs, the strangers, the weirdos.
Welsh, Irish, Scots, Bretons — all Celts, all pushed into the hills and scrublands, all Welch/Welsh/Welsch.
>>People should realize just how bad both Bushes were for conservatives.>>
Lest we forget, G.H.W. Bush’s daddy Prescott was a founding member & Treasurer for Planned Parenthood.
There's little doubt about that. Hard to find American pols who aren't bought off these days -- by China, Saudi Arabia, narcotraffickers, etc. They don't give a damn about the future of America, just as long as their fortunes are made.
Does she ever need to shut up. Gives all women a bad name for spouting off on a political issue without understanding it or having the big picture. Looks more and more like Bush married a nice, pretty woman who just wasn’t that smart.
And it is very easy to think that way when you live in a gated community, and dont even know what a supermarket scanner is, which is for the little people in flyover country. I SWEAR these elitists of both parties are SO out of touch and SO corrupt. AND their wives.
Exactly! And they had to have a SPONSOR to get in.
Laura - just stuff it. W, you have my sympathies.
No wonder at all. Miss Chatty most likely brow beat him with it.
Bush-bashing trolls are also off the leash, I see. This kind of stuff bolsters the other side when we have elections to win in the fall.
As were mine - and they needed a sponsor to make sure they had a place to stay, etc.
IMO, it has nothing to do with the Bush’s but Laura. Right now, it seems it’s all about her and not our country with her pro abortion, pro homomarriage and now pro amnesty and TOTALLY ignoring the ‘illegal’ aspect. Her timing is suspect.
She’s another one - spouting off and never read the bill.
Much as I am against illegal immigration, I would not encourage snitching. It’s un-American. (Putting flameproof suit on . . .)
That is correct. Some people need to stop carrying the Democrats’ water, however.
I don’t know about the charge of “bought off”, but from my perspective as a campaigner and contributer to their presidencies, I am very, very disappointed with what they have done to the R party and Conservatives in particular. They are responsible for the terrible setback we are in.
And as for their wives, (Barbara and Laura) mukohan mo, yomehan mo anmari yoku nai yatsu.
Translation: I have lost respect for both of these presidents, and their wives.
