Fine, last reply. If you substitute the word fascism then it just makes it even more important that we not only step up our fight against them but also save as many innocents as we can. But there is no such thing as a nice fascists, there are nice muslims though but it seems all you want to do is toss the baby out with the bathwater.
As for being open an tolerant, I don’t particularly care about that nor do I give a rats ass about what the world thinks about us. The only thing I care about is the rights of the individual, everyones rights. Yes we have to protect ourselves (and in many ways we don’t do that good a job of it) but broad brushes OUGHT NOT be used to do so when it comes to dealing with individuals. When broad strokes and generalizations are made about people, their rights are the first thing that goes out the window.
If you think a person is a radical, THEN MAKE YOUR CASE! Do that and you can torture them on the steps of the Capitol if you want (I’ll bring the pliers) but judging someone on the basis of their religion alone goes against the grain of everything this country should be about. Do that and we would no longer be the “free country” you claim to care about.
As for immigration, hell 90% of the people who immigrate here are from latin america. And if you want the islamists deported and/or prevented from entering the country, I have no problem with that. Just remember my original argument was for these “Americanized Muslims” you’re talking about.
Whatever the hell that means...
Maybe you mean friendly - neighborly, kept a clean house, paid their bills on time, had friends over for barbecue...
We're looking at this very differently, Raymann. But please stay with me...
I've known people who were alive - in Germany - during the time of NAZIS - I've also known people who survived concentration camps during that same time period - a 6 foot tall neighbor ( years ago) - whose weight was in the high 90's when he was released. If you go back over my replies - even those following 9/11, you will find my consistent comments that I would stand with my innocent Muslim neighbors if someone came after them ONLY because of their religion. I still feel that way. So please don't paint me with YOUR broad brush.
I never said I wanted anyone deported - I said we need to slow new immigration waaaaaay down. In Islam - because Mohammad was also a mayor - the religious and political are horribly intertwined. That's important. How important? We need to find out.
Think of it like this - if fascism was intertwined with the Lutheran religion, we'd have to think twice about allowing German Lutherans to immigrate here (in large numbers) - especially if "Radical Lutheran fascist " were at war with us.
Also, it's important that Muslims living here are not pulled down by too many immigrants flooding the system with "old country" ideas. Assimilation takes time. Slowing things down will also help Muslims who are here.
