To: Sub-Driver
On the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks: Bush recalled the military patrol planes flying over the capital keeping watch for possible additional attack planes. “The very first night of September 11th, they wanted us to sleep down in the bunker, and George just said, ‘No, I’ve got to sleep in my own bed. I mean, we’ve got to get some rest.’ And — but he said, ‘Come get us if you think you need to.’

Pretty interesting stuff.

I toured the William Jennings Bryan home in Lincoln, and a historian told us how Bryan feared for his life and would sleep in a different room every night. This was at the turn of the century, I wonder why he was so afraid, even hiding in his own home in the middle of nowhere, Lincoln, Ne? He really was the cowardly lion portrayed in “The Wizard of Oz”.
