People who I knew damm well voted for him denied it.

So they claimed they'd voted for the Commie supporter?

Did you call them on that?

Nope. These were people I knew and had to live with, including a roommate, so I didn't push it.

Besides, I didn't vote for Nixon either.

I agree; I think my parents never denied they voted for Nixon, because the alternative would have made them laughingstocks. ;)

Now Carter and Ford, on the other hand.....For some reason my mom actually decided to vote for Carter (her only Dem vote, no idea why). So my dad told her since he’d be voting for Ford, they’d cancel each other out. So why bother voting? But he lied and went and voted for Ford anyway. ;)
