Sarah Palin's Political Bandwagon Is wobbling Under The Weight of Contradictions The Sarah Palin phenomenon is finally beginning to fade as contradictions mount up, says Alex Spillius in Washington
Alex Spillius 15 May 2010
We are seeing the first signs of wobble on the Sarah Palin bandwagon. This may seem a strange thing to say about a political superstar who has earned at least $12 million in the past 18 months from a publishing advance, personal appearance fees and a television punditry contract, not to forget a reality show about life in Alaska.
Palin is such a boon to the struggling book world that her second opus, America by Heart - Reflection on Family, Faith and Flag, can already be ordered in advance even though publication is six months away. A return to the number one spot on the best seller list surely awaits.
But other indices are proving less kind to the former Alaska governor. According to a recent poll more Alaskans than not think the presidency should not form the next chapter of Palin's extraordinary story, while 45 per cent gave her a negative personal rating. When John McCain plucked her from obscurity to be his Republican running mate in the 2008 campaign, her approval rating at home was 80 per cent, the highest of any governor in the country.
Now even a poll of Tea Party supporters, her most ardent fans, showed that a majority wouldn't vote for her if she ran for president in 2012. It is not just that the faithful are beginning to question her readiness for the White House.

“Surprise everyone on this thread and say something that the PDS chorus has only posted 500 times instead of 2000 times.”
“Well, the role she decided for herself when she resigned as governor of Alaska was as a speaker, writer, and commentator. She decided that her was was not in elected office.”
You don’t surprise anyone. She resigned, which has been posted 12,300 times by the PDS trolls. As if this forecloses her from future office. Your posts are not even serious.
What's really scary is that one doesn't see Campbell's name mentioned much....anywhere. He seems to be flying under the radar and that's waaaay too dangerous.
I sure hope all the deflection doesn't result in him waltzing away with the nod....*sigh*
They don't understand Sarah's strategy. She is building a coalition in 2010 and again in 2012 to move the country back to the right and defeat Obamunism.
I understand political math and logic. I also know very well political movement. In case you have not noticed, the conservative wing of the party has not gotten any. The best that can be said is the pendulum has at times only slowed in its steady swing to the left.
Your plan B is not working, has not been working for decades. How many times do you advocate running head-on into the same wall?
Stand for your convictions, support them always and people will follow. Have you noticed with your approach how many are now registered as decline to state voters? What party do you think a majority of those voters came from, why did they leave and why do they stay home in such large numbers on election day?
In case it is not obvious, it is because they have given up on the compromisers, aka Plan B advocates in the GOP.
You can suggest my approach is wrong but don't tell me I don't understand this game.
Well, let's hope she gets the point. She is more effective outside of office than in office. I like Rush Limbaugh. But he will never run for office because he knows he is more effective as a spokesman in the media.
Yeah, CNN and other liberal polls says she's not electable either.
I don't know if she is electable or not. But she is not very effective as an office holder. She has more effective as media person.
It is because of people that mirror the MSM and rip every little thing she does. You hold her to a higher level then any other conservative out there.
“The name Tom Campbell is never mentioned in this hit piece.
What’s really scary is that one doesn’t see Campbell’s name mentioned much....anywhere.”
That is because Campbell has supporters on this thread who have said they would vote for him instead of the other two. They hope Devore and Fiorina divide the vote so he can sneak in, and they bash Palin for her endorsement. Then it is a win/win for the left. Six more years of proabort social liberalism, no matter who wins the general.
Tom Campbell isn’t important here because it is becoming more important to stop Palin than it is to worry about politics and elections.
Sarah needs a wakeup call.... too often she has lined up with the choice of the fat cats....
Why not ask the conservatives on this list who've endorsed RINOs too?
Hunter endorsed Huckabee
Tancredo endorsed Romney
DeMint endorsed Romney
Pawlenty endorsed McCain
Thompson endorsed McCain
Newt endorsed Scozzafava
Santorum endorsed Specter
Rubio endorsed Huckabee
Santorum endorsed Romney
Scott Brown endorsed Rommey
Ann Coulter endorsed Romney
Mark Levin endorsed Romney
Dick Cheney endorsed McCain
Thune endorsed McCain
Jindahl endorsed McCain

“They don’t understand Sarah’s strategy.”
Some don’t understand it, that is true. Some, however, are treacherous, weither working for Romney or Obama or their ilk.
Why don't you post facts/stats supporting your claim that she 'scared off the base she had'.
Since Sarah herself is the band wagon, I don’t see her wobbling a bit. I don’t know where the woman gets all her energy. I would like to see her calm down and speak in a more mature manner rather than like a teenage rally girl for a change. Now that would be refreshing. But then I am probably just a stodgy old lady.
“If our strongest conservative endorses RINOs like Fiorino and McCain, how conservative is conservative?
Why not ask the conservatives on this list who’ve endorsed RINOs too?”
Good Point! The real reason for the focus on Palin’s endorsements never was the endorsements themselves. It was always about trying to drive a wedge between Palin and conservatives. It is a shame that a lot of good conservatives do not see this for what it is. But, not to worry. It won’t be anymore consequential to her 2012 electoral prospects than a drop in the ocean.
OK, guys, why did you endorse RINOs?
No, you don't. I clearly and succinctly explained to you that Chuck DeVore has been running for 11 months. He has no money, has not generated the Tea Party & grassroots support like Rand Paul and Marco Rubio has, and is running 3rd in a leftist state. When you see what Sarah has seen, you would understand why she made the decision she did. It has nothing to do with "supporting RINOs," because Sarah has endorsed far more conservatives than RINOs. In fact, not including the McCain endorsement, Carly is the only RINO she has endorsed, and furthermore she's not even a RINO because she has no prior public service on which to base that on.
Your plan B is not working, has not been working for decades. How many times do you advocate running head-on into the same wall?
I don't advocate supporting RINOs bub. If this was a two-man race and DeVore was behind Campbell and Sarah would have endorsed Campbell, I would have went ballistic. This is just one race with unusual circumstances, not something that should be done nationally.
Stand for your convictions, support them always and people will follow. Have you noticed with your approach how many are now registered as decline to state voters? What party do you think a majority of those voters came from, why did they leave and why do they stay home in such large numbers on election day?
I have and Sarah has. Why do you think there's the Tea Parties to begin with? The Republican Party has been put on notice and a lot of new Republican challengers are solid conservatives.
“Why don’t you post facts/stats supporting your claim that she ‘scared off the base she had’.”
It is really grossly unfair to ask them for facts. Ask for talking points. They have those although not all that many. Stripes 1776 believes in recycling his talking points like a good lib.
So are you going to kick all of them to the curb too?
