Sarah Palin's Political Bandwagon Is wobbling Under The Weight of Contradictions The Sarah Palin phenomenon is finally beginning to fade as contradictions mount up, says Alex Spillius in Washington
Alex Spillius 15 May 2010
We are seeing the first signs of wobble on the Sarah Palin bandwagon. This may seem a strange thing to say about a political superstar who has earned at least $12 million in the past 18 months from a publishing advance, personal appearance fees and a television punditry contract, not to forget a reality show about life in Alaska.
Palin is such a boon to the struggling book world that her second opus, America by Heart - Reflection on Family, Faith and Flag, can already be ordered in advance even though publication is six months away. A return to the number one spot on the best seller list surely awaits.
But other indices are proving less kind to the former Alaska governor. According to a recent poll more Alaskans than not think the presidency should not form the next chapter of Palin's extraordinary story, while 45 per cent gave her a negative personal rating. When John McCain plucked her from obscurity to be his Republican running mate in the 2008 campaign, her approval rating at home was 80 per cent, the highest of any governor in the country.
Now even a poll of Tea Party supporters, her most ardent fans, showed that a majority wouldn't vote for her if she ran for president in 2012. It is not just that the faithful are beginning to question her readiness for the White House.

“I hate to say it but it was not the media that offered an endorsement to Fiorina. Palin did that all on her own.”
I hate to say it but it was not the media that offered the vice presidency to George Bush I. Reagan did that all on his own.
Palin like Reagan know when it is better for conservative to win an 80% friend than to help elect a 100% enemy. Her endorsements have shown a clear understanding that you will never have a majority unless you coopt the seats that your ideology might never win. It just proves Sarah Palin is far and away the best advocate for conservative victory that we have.
Now go back to DU or KOS - or wherever you came from
This liberal article pulled the same stunt to make their Fiorina criticism, they portrayed this as a race between Fiorina and Devore, the article never lets the reader know that someone else is actually running away with the race.
The name Tom Campbell is never mentioned in this hit piece.
Yep had FR existed in the 1980s, they would have been calling Reagan a Rino as the Dims trashed him from the left.
“This author, I believe, is a left wing fool. He makes a
couple legit points but is in lala land for the balance.”
You’ve gotten off track pissant: this thread, like all Sarah Palin threads, isn’t about discussing the article, the issues or conservative activism.
They’re all about feeeeeelings .......
They’re afraid of her.
She hasn’t run for anything since November of 2008, but they REMAIN afraid of her.
They will CONTINUE to be afraid of her.
I couldn’t be happier.
Those who want to put up the X-ray scanners up to Sarah Palin to see if she is clean of any liberal WMDs, would you vote for her anyway? Or, do you bite your leg off to cure yourself of a mosquito bite?
Those who focus on Sarah Palin’s coalition building efforts may be trying to derail this effort. This coalition is now bigger than any of us imagine and too strong to oppose the momentum that it has created.
Which party did Palin work with more closely than the Republicans when she was governor of Alaska? If you guessed the Democrat Party, you would be correct.
I like Palin, but she is not what she pretends to be.
disinformation is a typical liberal media strategy...
Yes, I voted for McCain, but I don't care for him at all. He was the Republican candidate. I suppose Palin owes him for putting her on the national stage. But McCain is THE RINO of the Republican Party.
But her endorsement of Carly Fiorina feminist destroyer of HP is a bridge too far for me.
That's where Palin lost me too. Fiorina is just a RINO. And yes, she nearly destroyed HP. And she will be a bad influence in the Republican party if elected.
nobody’s perfect.
Go back and check how many RINOs Reagan endorsed over the years. Remember his 11th commandment? That doesn’t seem to carry much weight anymore.
If you're going to let an endorsement skew your political judgment, then you clearly are unable to think for yourself.
The conservative candidate in the race has failed to raise money and has lagged in the polls since he began running 11 months ago.
Sarah's endorsement of Carly was an overall strategy of defeating the real RINO, Campbell and defeating Boxer in the general election.
“Yep had FR existed in the 1980s, they would have been calling Reagan a Rino as the Dims trashed him from the left.”
Yea. Some would have. The Richard Vigueries and Phil Cranes. The one percent crowd. They were never for Reagan. And at the end of the day, he won without them and indeed in spite of them. they were irrelevant in much the same way that the perfectionist caucus on FR is irrelevant today. They just don’t know it.
