KABUL, Afghanistan (May 14) - Regional Command-West continues to support the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority in their efforts to assist victims of the severe flooding that occurred last week in Ghor Province in western Afghanistan.
The Lithuanian Provincial Reconstruction Team of Chaghcharan donated four tons of food, several dozen blankets, and clothes for children and adults to Afghan officials which will distribute the humanitarian aid to the most affected communities in the province.
The civil-military cooperation team of Regional Command-West will deliver 200 blankets, 100 food packages (more than two tons, containing flour, rice, oil and sugar), 15 tents and 10 boxes of clothes today.
According to a United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs report, 592 houses were destroyed, 1,728 damaged, and seeded irrigated lands were extensively damaged in the province.
