Islamabad (AsiaNews / Agencies) - Local newspapers have been giving much space to the news of the arrest of a man suspected of helping the terrorists who wanted to explode a car bomb in Times Square in New York.
Citing sources in the Washington Post, Dawn says that the suspect has provided key proof that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan group (TTP) is behind the failed attack on 1 May.
The suspect also admitted he had helped Faisal Shahzad - the man who would have physically carried out the attack - to travel to Pakistan and go into the tribal area to receive terrorist training.
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan is a terrorist group in Pakistan support the Taliban, Afghans and connected with Al Qaeda to fight the multinational force in Afghanistan Pakistani army home.
Yesterday the United States three people, also linked to Shahzad, were arrested. Shahazad Faisal, a U.S. citizen of Pakistani origin, has admitted to plotting the coup and had received training in Pakistan a few months earlier. But he says he acted alone.
The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan had immediately claimed responsibility for the failed attempt. If confirmed, that Times Square would be the groups first attack on the United States.
Maybe we won’t wait too long to see that....
