And your unsolicited comment to me was, of course, the epitome of civil discourse, right? Now answer the questions.

You're apparently OK with having other people do your killing for you. Are you willing to do it yourself? Are you willing to tie a bomb around your waist, go into a place where drugs are being dealt, and set it off? Hey, you'll maybe kill a drug dealer or two and many users. It's a big win, right?

You're hilarios!

Are you on drugs right now?

What Bible would that be? I’ve read the Bible many times, and cannot find anywhere in the Bible, after the collapse of the Kingdom (OT), that it ever says Christians are supposed to use government to force their moral views on other people. All I can find are verses telling Christians to obey the government and pray for peace and freedom to worship as they believe.

Hank,
God prescribed via the old testament both personal morality laws, and the structure of laws used to govern human beings righteously.

The Son of God, Jesus, stated that he came not to destroy the law, but fullfill it, furthermore, he said don't change it one "Jot or Tittle".

While Christ's mission was one only of a personal nature, I have to take his word's literally, and not read into them what I may want to beleive, A.K.A., they have no relevance to good governance.

We are to live according to those laws, not the ceremonial laws, Christ and his Apostles stated they were no longer in effect. But the moral laws never went away.

As Christians, we are to live all of our lives, every component, every facet, including the political, as Christians, there is no component that is supposed to be outside of us seeking his will.

It is a false dichotomy unsupported by scripture that we are to separate out the political, and just focus on our personal lives where Christ is concerned.

All of this means is that we are commanded to live Holy lives by God and this extends to what we fight for in the political world, which means we should be fighting for implementing his will in our governmental structure, as much as possible, while still respecting the free will component of Grace.

Now, as to the free will component, you might use that point to support your argument concerning your, or anyone elses choice to use drugs.

However, from a Christian perspective, it does not work that way.

From a Christian perspective, you, I, and everyone else who takes the name of Christ have an obligation from God, and his Son, Jesus Christ, to pursue holiness not only in our own lives, but in the lives of everyone else around us including our enemies.

To do less means you have forfeited your Christianity.

So there is a choice here, either your libertarian views, or your Christianity.

“To do less means you have forfeited your Christianity” - SCP

**********

John 2: 1On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
4”Dear woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied, “My time has not yet come.”

5His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

6Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[a]

7Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.

8Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”

They did so, 9and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

11This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

2 Timothy 2: T 14Keep reminding them of these things. Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen. 15Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 16Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. 17Their teaching will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus, 18who have wandered away from the truth. They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. 19Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,”[a] and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
20In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. 21If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

22Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. 24And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead, he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. 25Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

See, once you’ve accepted the principle that some people’s religious views can rightly be shoved down everyone else’s throats, you will have no moral right to object when it’s the Muslims shoving their views down your throat. Hope you enjoy your chains.

Also guess your Bible is a lot different than mine. In mine the moral law was not enforced by a government, and in fact there was not a central government until Israel begged for a King, which God told them not to do. (I Samuel).

You can put any religious garment you want to on it, but you are just another statist totalitarian.

Hank

During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity, in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution.

And for that quote, there are many others of the founders stating that the form of government they created was meant ONLY for a Christian nation and that if America walked away from God, the nation would fall.

Can you cite quotations from other Founders that dispute Madison's view of legal Christianity?

BTW, what is your answer to my question in post #36?

I apologize to you, dcwusmc, on the choice of the word “crap” in my original post. I should have been more judicious in my choice of a word. Nevertheless, I strongly disagree with your position on complete legalization of drugs, and my attacks were directed at the position, not the person. They were not personal attacks in violation of board rules. Also, this is a discussion forum, and “unsolicited” comments are not prohibited or impolite.

Well, dang, why don’t we just legalize drugs that will sure solve the problem!

That would be a good start, but it would not dismantle the infrastructure, which whould then just move on to be the food police.
