MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) -- Dozens of former altar boys who sued Vermont's Catholic church over alleged sexual abuse by priests will share in a nearly $18 million settlement of their cases.

Good! The time for coverups is over.
Well, it’s good that it’s settled. Most of this was due to a few priests—in fact, evidently, one rogue priest. And a former bishop who didn’t do his job.
But the sad thing is that the Church in Vermont is already under grave financial pressure, and may have to close down parishes, close Catholic schools (they consolidated two of them in Monpelier this year), and cut back on charities.
I’m sure these boys were traumatized, but I’m not sure how 8 or 9 hundred thousand dollars apiece in church money, out of the donations of many church-goers who could hardly afford it, is going to fix it. Especially since some of these same liberal lawyers are probably working hard in other cases to push gay rights.

How much did they get and how much did the lawyers get?

Blue state Vermont one of few trying tax cuts

MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) — Vermont, often regarded as one of the most liberal states in the country, is bucking the trend of raising state taxes to boost its economy and heading in the opposite direction, cutting capital gains and estate taxes.
I'd say that's a very valid point. Newspapers wrote endless articles and lawyers can afford new bimmers but it was a monumental failure of the shepherds within that produced the scandal.
When will they report the teacher sex cases?
