People who think it’s economically necessary to rely upon a cheap labor force sound to me like people who said long ago that America would collapse without slavery. Know what? We have an entire world of cheap, cheap labor from which to benefit. We don’t particularly need Mexicans. Especially with 20% or whatever unemployment. The laws of supply and demand will take care of everything. Labor supply goes down, prices go up, and the jobs will be filled. We can partly take the cost out of the benefits we were paying.

You are absolutely right. Those who employ illegals are current day slave owners. They are employing labor with limited options and profiting as a result. Any business that relies on a flow of impoverished third world workers to survive is guilty of explotation.
It would be great if all the illegals and their kids stayed home for a day. We would see what a relief it would be to our society to have them all gone home.

Wow. That's an excellent argument!

I agree. Democrats, blacks and others should do some self reflection. I tried defending Jefferson and Washington to several blacks, but because they had owned slaves, they would hear it.

I tried the argument that to have some wealth and power, they had to do what the economy dictated in order to compete with those with slaves. I pointed out their disapproval for the practice and that they got the tools in place in the constitution to eventually end the practice.

It was like talking to a brick wall.

Great minds and all that.... I've been saying that to my liberal friends for years and it's lost on them. Why don't people see this obvious parallel.
