WASHINGTON — Pioneering moonwalking astronauts Neil Armstrong and Eugene Cernan on Wednesday accused the Obama administration of hastily concocting an ill-conceived road map for manned space exploration in its move to shelve NASA's back-to-the-moon program.
Armstrong, who took man's first steps on the moon in 1969, and Cernan, who took the last steps in 1972, told the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation that President Barack Obama's plans to end shuttle flights and shift responsibility for building manned spacecraft to commercial companies was a risky strategy that reflected a predilection for developing commercial spacecraft industry at all costs.

Where do you intend to get all the money to pay for this? We’re broke. Space exploration and development should be left up to the private sector not our federal leviathan.
A lot of people thought the Great Society was a great “dream” too. If you think space exploration is a great idea, there is nothing to prevent you from investing in a private sector company to do it. BTW, the American taxpayer is broke and can no longer afford to pay for other peoples “dreams.”

OBAMA was ill-conceived.
Manned space exploration isn’t just about “dreams.” It’s about science, technology, security, defence, space superiority and the long term survival of the species. I’d say that makes it in the best interests of the nation, and not just a vanity project.
Go back to 'reasons' we are broke and fix them. (Of course, that is not going to happen with Obama, who needs a 'broken America' to advance his global agenda.)
We are caught in an irony; the only way for America to move foward; is to turn the clock back. 'Change, the 'change' or we are doomed.
USA, otoh. . .will not even be able to get to manned space station on our own - that our technology allowed, funded and so built in a cooperation of sorts with Russia. Seems it will, 'all be theirs' for the taking. That this dead end for our space program EVER was 'allowed' to happen is a plot of the 'same kind' it seems; as are the others to 'depress America'; while 'raising up' the rest of the world.
America's space program; not a Leftist's dream; but rather it's nemesis and one it has never been able to 'counter'; until now.
Leftist dream rising, once again.. .and future American nightmare in the making and unfolding, as we speak.
