Former first lady Laura Bush has broken with her husband on the premier social issues of his administration and said she backs gay marriage and abortion.
After more than eight years of silence on the controversial issues, Mrs. Bush said in an interview with CNN's Larry KingTuesday, that gay marriage and abortion were points of contention with her husband, former President George W. Bush.
Mrs. Bush in recent weeks has been promoting her memoir "Spoken from the Heart," in which she writes about her life both before and after becoming first lady.
In response to a question about gay marriage, she said, "There are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman. But I also know that, you know, when couples are committed to each other and love each other, that they ought to have, I think, the same sort of rights that everyone has."
Mrs. Bush said she and the ex-president "disagree" on legalizing same-sex marriage.

Good for you. I was, hands down, worse today!

At that time I thought it was spin. And never thought about it again until this article.

Yes indeed they are history, but not the damage that Laura Bush will do with this revelation. As I stated before there will be some young women who will kill their baby; after all someone they admire says it's ok. She has blood on her hands as far as I'm concerned and she does not serve the same God that is in the bible (that would be the God of Abraham, Issac & Jacob) with these stands.

The “F” grade of GWB naturally produces something even worse.

Yes, she is revealing that she is not what some conservatives thought she was, but I am unsurprised about this at all. I have little faith in the people chosen in Republican primaries these days.
To: Outlaw Woman
I, too, USED to respect and admire Laura Bush. Not anymore.

I agree. IMO, there was no need to tell the world - who benefits? Unless some people feel the need to spill their guts for therapy reasons. And that is a selfish reason.

I'm thoroughly convinced that President Reagan was truly divinely appointed. I believe we have one among us currently that has that same divine appointment and if it be His will...they will be President of the United States. God is not going to permit this depravity & evil to continue unabated...although I do believe that we are being punished for our part in being apathetic.
President Reagan was a great man, an example of what someone, even coming out of Hollyweird, could do to make a difference. I have often thought our generation was being punished for their apathy toward the unborn. Kinda figured if they wouldn't heed their silent cries, God would get their attention through their pocketbooks. Sad to say, that might be the case.

Thanks for the info on her stance FOR abortion. Shame on you Laura Bush. Shame.
To: Free ThinkerNY
Her husband isn’t much of a conservative, so something like this doesn’t really surprise me.

I don’t agree with Mrs. Bush but she was a classy First Lady and she kept her mouth shut for 8 years.

I had hoped his path to Christianity was real. I still do.
And so do I. But Laura didn't have a conversion - she's Christianity-lite. I think the years in the WH between the media and home wasn't pleasant for him.

Expect Mrs. Bush to be warmly embraced by the women at the View, Rachel Maddow and Elena Kagen.
Oh, they’ll embrace her one minute and stab her in the back the next. They’ll use her and then toss her away.

She’s fake in that she presented herself as being a Conservative. She had the admiration of millions of Conservative women whom she knew admired her. Conservative women considered her to have class and elegance. We thought she was one of us. Now we find out she is really on the other side. I’d say we’ve been duped, for at least 9 years. (I was unaware of her before W’s presidency, but I’m sure many Texans were aware of her.) This is not a *role* we’re playing here - it’s supposed to be real life. You don’t just hide your true opinions on things, garner the admiration of millions, and then say *surprise*, it was all a sham!

I'm naive I suppose. I should have hardened my heart years ago but always have looked at a person's actions and she never gave any indication that she was anything but a loving, kind woman caring about those that are less fortunate. She reached out to those. Now this comes to light and it shows that inside of her, a monster lurks. That may sound harsh but compared to what she is actually advocating, it's quite mild.
This is dedicated to your new revelation Mrs Bush:

Same here bb. If anyone is interested and would like to express the displeasure there is a contact email on her site: http://www.laurabushfoundation.org
Now I’m wondering just what that foundation is going to support.
