Los Angeles boycotting Arizona. Maybe we should just boycott Hollywood for a few months.

Me too, I noticed the movies were beginning to be unbearably trashy in the late 70’s and I haven’t been to one since then. Same for sporting events.

Unfortunatly, many people, including many FReepers, seperate a star’s “art” from their personal politics and support the “art” but not the political stance. I dont, and never have. People like Elton John have gotten rich off people that despise the homo agenda. But he does not have one thin dime of my $$$ and neither do any Hollywierd libs and pervs. My entertainment $$$$ are spent on local talent that I have met or seen.

But you still gave them $12.

Elton John was popular at a time when no one knew what his sexuality was. Once he went public with it in 1976 his popularity declined.

Same here. WEll, I did see Star Trek in the theaters, but that’s it for a very long time now.

There were rumors from the beginning that he and songwriter Bernie Taupin(sp) were a “couple” He later confirmed this publicly.
To: rightly_dividing
Taupin is straight. Elton may have wanted that but it’s not in any of the accounts that I read.

This will never work. Want people to boycott Hollyweird? Its like asking everyone to give up their cell phone.
According to an earlier post the contracts being voided by LA are worth around $8 million. Hollywood box office sales in 2009 were over $10 billion. DVD Sales tack on an additional 9.8 billion. So if the boycott of Hollywood reduced sales by 0.04% it would be a net loss for LA. If a conservative boycott of Hollywood could drop their revenue by only one percent it would cost California $198 million dollars.
Is a state on the verge of default going to throw away that kind of money. California's impending fiscal disaster makes them much more vulnerable to boycotts than Arizona.

I am not sure either way, but that was the rumor in the early seventies. I really was not a fan of John anyway, so I did not follow his career closely. My apologies to Taupin if I disparaged his name.

So are the Lakers part of the boycott?

There you go with your logic! People here call for boycotts of Hollywood if someone sneezes wrong.
LA has a large Mexican/immigrate/illegals population, therefore lies the source of the AZ boycott. Guess most do not understand in the smaller cities surrounding LA, such as Malibu, dwells a fair number of conservatives trying to make a difference.

I bet they are not boycotting electricity generated in AZ.
That would be fun to watch play out, if they did.

Whenever they started putting out films that were unsuited for family entertainment. Probably late 60's or there about. Movies about sex, drugs, leftist agenda, homos, blood and guts all left me behind. But they still have a large audiance for such stuff, just not me or my family, or most of my friends.
Sorry, Borges, I have got to get busy, need to go.

You know, every time someone here on FR finally gets the idea that maybe he should start actually living according to his beliefs and stop supporting anti-American idiots, rather than just talking about it, some yahoo such as yourself shows up to say "No, it's silly to take your principles seriously, especially if they interfere with leisure activities."
What the hell are you doing on FR, anyway? All of these people getting so upset over political stuff must really bum you out. Why can't they just be cool, like you? Why subject yourself to all of these negative vibes, man?

I will boycott LA, along with SF, Austin, and any other city/state/country that chooses to boycott AZ concerning this issue.
I will continue to not spend a dime on any filth that comes from Hollywood or any other place, as has been my lifestyle for a very long time.

We’ve boycotted Hollywood for many, many years now. we have even smashed videos with lib/dems in them who can’t just act and be done with it but have to go on TV and mouth off like they actually know what they are talking about. Each time we hear one...we smash that video. Getting down to a few now but...we feel better. hollyweird means nothing to us. Phonies, botox, lipo, collegen nobodies getting paid for doing nothing and doing it bad at that.
To: rightly_dividing
Most of their movies are gutter films. We think more of ourselves than to waste our time on these idiots who spend more money on a purse or dress just to look like they are somebody. Then the purses or dresses look like something they found in the trash. They are pure idiots. They spend money in the most wasteful ways and one day they won’t have it then they’ll call they Whaaaaambulance. Idiots. Pure idiots who think material things make them important.
