For what it's worth:

Obama’s own wife recently referred to Kenya as his country of birth, his grandmother says so as well.

No. Obama's wife referred to Kenya as his "home country," plausibly meaning the "land of his ancestors." I have had a fellow American of Lithuanian ancestry call me a "landsman," so I don't find it hard to believe that's what she meant. And his grandmother, who was being asked leading questions through an interpreter, immediately corrected herself in the interview that idea was taken from.

Two hospitals in Hawaii orginally claimed that status, adding to the confusion.

No. That story got started because a newspaper reporter got the name of the hospital wrong. The hospitals themselves never made that mistake.

He’s spent over a million dollars covering up his background.

No. All we know is that he's paid a law firm over a million dollars for campaign and post-campaign expenses. There's no evidence that any of it went to cover up his background.

Regardless of the validity of the NBC question as a whole, I hate to see the same errors introduced into these discussions over and over. (Don't feel bad--someone else will repeat them in the next thread, I'm sure.)
