LONDON Conservative leader David Cameron became Britain's youngest prime minister in almost 200 years Tuesday after Gordon Brown stepped down and ended 13 years of Labour government.
Cameron said he aims to form a full coalition government with the third-place Liberal Democrats after his Conservative Party won the most seats but did not get a majority in Britain national election last week.
The 43-year-old leader said it would be "hard and difficult work" to govern as a coalition but added that Britain had serious economic issues to tackle. Cameron visited Buckingham Palace and was asked to form a government by Queen Elizabeth II less than an hour after Brown tendered his resignation to the monarch.
Cameron and Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg's pact would be the first coalition government since World War II.

who was the youngest PM?
it will all depend on what sort of absurd concessions he had to give Clegg
William Pitt, the Younger. He was only 24!

(Pittsburgh is named after William Pitt the Elder)
Both hard AND difficult. Wow, sounds hard. And difficult.

13 years of mayhem and chaos and attacks
We’re only into Obama’s second.. (shudder.)
...and nothing will change. There are even fewer differences between their 2 biggest parties than there are between ours. The entire UK ship is sinking fast in an ocean of debt, so it may be Cameron’s misfortune to be blamed when it finally goes under. I don’t understand why anyone would want to be in charge of any of the floundering European countries.
You're STILL here?!
PHEW, I thought you were Gordon Brown!
I dont understand why anyone would want to be in charge of any of the floundering European countries.

Tony Blair has been touted for head of the EU. Digest that one. ;-)
Cameron has an opportunity to grow a consensus for change and reining in the madness.. it ain’t gonna be easy. Maybe we can send him some TEA.. ;-)
those Brits sure as Hell do love ceremony, don’t they?
I’ve always liked #10 Downing Street. It seems like a rather humble residence that you’d hope your leaders would be down-to-earth enough to be comfortable living in (I’m sure Obama would not stay there for two days...)
Is she pregnant?
David and Samantha Cameron have a lovely family. Their son Ivan, left, had cerebral palsy and died last year. She is expecting another child in September.
