In the California governor's race, Steve Poizner goes very, very hard at Meg Whitman on immigration, drawing a sharp difference on an issue that plays in his favor in a Republican primary, but which Republicans worry could backfire in a general election.
Hope this works.
Unfortunately Poizner is a weasel who has flip-flopped on virtually every issue in order to portray himself as a conservative against Whitman. How can you trust someone who gave $10,000 to help elect Algore in 2000?
I know
Poizner sickens me. He’ll have no chance against Brown. Whitman at least will have a chance. She ain’t no Reagan or Deukmajian, or Wilson, but she ain’t no Moonbeam either.
OMG HE COULD LOSE THE LATINO VOTE THAT HE'S GONNA LOSE ANYWAY!!!
Ping!
The "republicans," by which I understand the Republican leadership, the politicians and self-important wonks, can start worrying about losing wholesale groups of conservatives instead, of ALL parties.
They are the ones who brought us where we are.
I don't give a **** what they worry about. We need conservative change.
Wonderful!
You have been watching the Whitman commercials.
All I need to know is that Poizner in the ONLY candidate that stated plainly that he would attack runaway spending and the illegal invaders crisis...
Whitman's idea of aiding education is to throw further money at the teacher's union...
U.S. REP DARRELL ISSA ON POIZNER'S FIRST VISIT TO THE U.S./MEXICO BORDER AS A CANDIDATE
For Immediate Release Monday, May 10, 2010
Please see the following statement from Whitman Campaign Co-Chair and U.S. Representative Darrell Issa in response to Steve Poizner's first official visit to the U.S./Mexico border as a candidate:
"This is another example of Steve Poizner using an issue that he has no interest in addressing but for pure self-interest and political gain. His priority is not addressing illegal immigration, it's getting elected. Mr. Poizner has invested $19 million of his own money into telling Californians that he is the border security candidate, but until today, he's never even taken the time as a candidate to meet with border patrol agents and tour our border. Californians should be asking themselves: why has it taken 602 days since declaring his ambitions for governor for him to even show up to survey the problem as a candidate?
"As someone who has spent years working on border issues, I find it inconceivable that Mr. Poizner has run two political campaigns without even including the words 'illegal immigration' in his previous policy platforms. Not until the issue has surfaced in a larger national debate, 29 days before the GOP primary election, has he decided to engage on this issue. It's very evident that he is more pre-occupied with political pandering than with solving the problem. On the other hand, Meg Whitman made border security a priority for her campaign at the outset, and studied our border security challenges while touring the border with agents last year.
"As Republican voters consider their options in this election, I hope they won't be fooled by politicians like Steve Poizner who are looking to secure their own election more than they are looking to secure our border."
I can see throwing a few thousand at a California democrat politician who has some power in your own state who may have an impact on your business or something, but sending $10K across the United States to help the enemy when the battle is at its fiercest? Unconscionable.
Me too. What a slimy weasel.
Funny, I haven't heard anybody challenge the truthfulness of the allegation that Poizner donated to Algore's legal challenge. I have heard tapes of Poizner saying a few years ago that he has always been pro-choice, and this year saying that he has always been pro-life. Always! Therefore I don't care what he says, because he will lie about anything.
That doesn't make me a fan of Whitman. But I would rather have an honest RINO than a dishonest one pretending to be a conservative, and doing a bad job of it.
