Analyzed: 500 Comments on Palin's Facebook Page

After Sarah Palin made a pitch last week for former HP CEO Carly Fiorina in the California GOP Senate primary, her Facebook followers jumped on her en masse, making it clear they won't stand for even a perceived softening of her politics. The blowback made headlines -- but it also made us wonder what the dialogue looks like after a typical Palin post. To find out, we gave a random sampling of 500-plus comments on Palin's Facebook page a close reading.

Oh yeah, just what we need. A "random" analysis of Palin's Facebook comments by an AOL idiot.

The left is desperate for any indication that Sarah is losing her base.

After devore stomped all over his own private parts... looks like Palin may have been right all along.

What’s funny is they’re assuming those on her FB fan page are fans. Anyone can be a fan, which means haters, etc. can post anything they’d like there.

The left is desperate for any indication that Sarah is losing her base.

Speaking as one who could be called a former member of her base I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the possibility out of hand.

After devore stomped all over his own private parts...

How exactly did he do that?

That's why the DeVore crowd on FR has me laughing. They're crying foul because its getting dirty, yet, when DeVore got all pissy when he didn't get Sarah's endorsement, they said nothing.

Politics is a dirty business. Anyone who thinks otherwise is out where the buses don't run.

I'm even more shocked at some who are crying that Palin is 'towing the party line' yet use the Tea party endorsement as justification for voting for DeVore or anyone else.

For Heaven's sake, people, think for yourself. If you're relying on Palin, the Tea Party, the GOP, etc., to tell you who to vote for, you've got problems bigger than any 'party' can solve.

Agreed. I have decided that Sarah Palin is a powerful voice in the movement, but not the leader of the movement. She can get 30% of the country to vote for her, but you need 51%.

This article is a complete joke. I was one of the first to sign up as a 'fan' when Sarah and Bristol set up the FB page in February 2009. It was immediately ravaged by some of the vilest liberal trolls I have ever seen, posting pure filth and nastiness on an hourly basis, 24/7. Several other fans (including FReepers) and I organized a counterattack and fought it out with the trolls for several months.

At one point, a group of high school punks from Whitney Young Charter School in Chicago (Michelle Obama's alma mater) hijacked the page and report bombed most of the legitimate members, thereby triggering FB's automatic blocking feature. I contacted their principal, explained what these punks were doing during class time on school computers, and to her credit, the principal knocked them offline, leaving us back in control of Sarah's wall. I also wrote to Bill McAlister, Sarah's then Public Affairs guy, asking for help

Shortly thereafter, Sarah left office, and apparently hired a full time moderator who came in and cleaned house. Since then, most messages are monitored and trouble makers weeded out. But lately, the infiltrators, both lib and GOP, have been weaseling their way back in. Consequently, any analysis done, using the critetria in this piece and based on current comments, is inherently flawed.

“The left is desperate for any indication that Sarah is losing her base.”

And her most ardent supporters are desperate to squash any indication she isn’t.

What’s the difference?

The difference? At least liberals attack Sarah for her stated policies. Conservatives attack her for endorsing RINOs. Because we all know REAL conservatives NEVER endorse RINOs.

The people jumping on the DeVore thing never supported Sarah in the first place. They’re fake outrage is tiring. They’re fake withdrawal of support for Sarah is too obvious for intelligent people to believe. It’s so boring already. They’re not fooling anyone.

I’m getting on there and posting “AOL is a bunch of leftards!” and see if they choose that for their “random” sampling.
