DeVore: "We need to kill our enemies." (Transcript)
RightScoop ^ | May 09, 2010 | Chuck DeVore

Posted on 05/09/2010 3:58:27 PM PDT by FTJM

"Short answer to your question is yes, it is unconstitutional and for that reason, I signed a pledge to repeal Obamacare four months ago. Carly Fiorina signed it the day after it passed and Tom Campbell still signed the pledge.

To go back to the previous question, though, I think it's very important what's going on in Afghanistan. It's very important that we understand that the Taliban and Al-qaida does not present a existential threat to the United States. They don't have an industrial base. They don't have armies. They're terrorists. Now, because of the fact that Afghanistan has no means of national support for a large army, where is the endgame? Are you proposing that we just stay in Afghanistan until they develop a modern economy and a modern democracy? For heaven's sakes, their constitution was drafted by the French as part of the NATO mission and it envisions a strong central government which is inimical like afghan culture and tradition. I'm an intelligence officer. I'm a lieutenant colonel. I've studied this issue. We need to kill our enemies. We don't need to build a modern nation state where one cannot exist for 100 years."

You were saying ...

It's very important that we understand that the Taliban and Al-qaida does not present a existential threat to the United States. They don't have an industrial base. They don't have armies. They're terrorists.

Yep! That's the situation as of pre-9/11 -- and look what happened. And also, look at what President George Bush did -- and got us right in there, in Afghanistan -- the right move, too -- I might add.

It's just as true and valid for today as it was for President George Bush and 9/11...

I knew that the public was "going wanky" over 9/11 -- but I didn't think it was happening with anyone on Free Republic... but I can see it is ... hoo-boy!

It's no wonder that Sarah Palin endorsed Carly Fiorina, instead of Chuck DeVore ...

Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but is he proposing we quit Afghanistan? Or do we quit nation-building in Afghanistan?

We want to be an existential threat to them, right? Our goal is to see they cease to exist, correct?

They share the same view of us we do (or should) of them...so why does DeVore hedge the issue? Technically, they alone probably do not threaten our existence as a country. Radical Islam could. Certainly does in Europe where the demographics are ominous. They certainly threatened and have ended the existence of thousands of Americans. Enough playing patty-cake. DeVore should have been more firm.

BINGO!

Provided we do not permit Muslim immigration, Islam is NOT NOT NOT our nation's most serious threat!!!

Home grown MARXISM is our nation's **most** serious threat!!! Government K-12 schools are the Marxists' most powerful weapon against us!

Ummmm..., remember our little discussion about "existential" ... and what "Merriam-Webster" had to say ... :-)

Believe me... it's much worse ... when you see the definition ... LOL ... From Merriam-Webster's dictionary ...

 -- EXISTENTIAL --

Main Entry: ex·is·ten·tial
Function: adjective
Date: 1693

1 : of, relating to, or affirming existence [existential propositions]

2 a : grounded in existence or the experience of existence : empirical

2 b : having being in time and space

This guy doesn't think it's a threat related to "existence" -- not grounded in "time and space" ... not grounded in "experience" ...

This guy, Chuck DeVore, needs to stay in California where there are a lot of "non-existential types" there ... LOL ...

...Tom Campbell still signed the pledge...

That doesn't make sense. You might be missing a rather important word there.

Well, when Merriam-Webster's makes no sense -- I'm afraid you're beyond dictionaries and definitions ... then ... you're into some other "existential plane" of existence ... doncha know ... :-)
