Yeah, if you read the whole speech, he’s quite Orwellian. On one had he views the information we have as a “distraction”. Then he turns right around and states, “It could only work if each of us stayed informed and engaged, if we held our government accountable, if we fulfilled the obligations of citizenship.”
Apparently, he wants it both ways, which is not uncommon for most pols. He’s quite timely in his attempt to control the internet by executive order though. It’s interesting that he’s so transparent about his nefarious intentions. I guess he must believe that no one is paying attention. Some of us are.
I believe when Obama says:
It could only work if each of us stayed informed and engaged, if we held our government accountable, if we fulfilled the obligations of citizenship.
stay informed = informatiom only from or approved by Obama
held our government accountable = vote out his opposition (Republicans)
fulfilled the obligations of citizenship = Devote ourselves to be slaves of his agenda
He figures his lapdogs at the New York Times will run misinformation for him. That and the fact that he surrounds himself with fellow travelers who've never spent a nano second in the private sector, means he actually believes the BS he spews. Don't forget this is a man who's been told all his life how special, intelligent and charismatic he is. He actually believes his own press releases.
As hard as he works it Obama is finding Fascism difficult to implement in an armed society.
You're not understanding. To Obama: 1) viewpoints which oppose his agenda = "distraction",
2) propaganda supporting his agenda = "information",
3) Being "engaged", "obligations of citizenship" = actively supporting his agenda,
4) "Hold government accountable" = yelling at Republicans to support the Obama Agenda"
Is it clearer now?
