The man who tried to set off a car bomb in Times Square was a Pakistani. Why is this unsurprising? Because when you hold a burning match to a gasoline tank, the laws of chemistry demand combustion.
Ideas considered extreme a decade ago are now mainstream. A private survey carried out by a European embassy based in Islamabad found that only four per cent of Pakistanis polled speak well of America; 96 per cent against.
Although Pakistan and the US are formal allies, in the public perception the US has ousted India as Pakistans number one enemy. Remarkably, anti-US sentiment rises in proportion to aid received. Say a good word about the US, and you are labelled as its agent. From what TV anchors had to say about it, Kerry-Lugars $7.5bn may well have been money that the US wants to steal from Pakistan rather than give to it.

The conclusion to this article is spot on in my opinion........... There is little doubt that the US has committed acts of aggression, as in Iraq, and maintains the worlds largest military machine. We know that it will make a deal with the Taliban if perceived to be in its self-interest even if that means abandoning the Afghans to bloodthirsty fanatics. Yet, it would be wrong to scorn the humanitarian impulse behind US assistance in times of desperation. Shall we write off massive US assistance to Pakistan at the time of the earthquake of 2005? Or to tsunami-affected countries in 2004?
In truth, the US is no more selfish or altruistic than any other country. And it treats its Muslim citizens infinitely better than we treat non-Muslims in Pakistan.
Instead of pronouncing moral judgments on everything and anything, we Pakistanis need to reaffirm what is truly important for our people: peace, economic justice, good governance, rule of law, accountability of rulers, womens rights and rationality in human affairs. Washington must be resisted, but only when it seeks to drag Pakistan away from these goals. More frenzied anti-Americanism will produce more Faisal Shahzads.
This admin has just threatened that if an attack is successful the US will go in and respond.

That would bring down the Paki government.
The radicals would take over.
Oh, Paki has nukes.
They have just encouraged the terrorists to carry out more attacks in the US.
President Obama’s going to repair this relationship, along with so many others that have been damaged by more than 500 years of bad management by Republicans and their predecessors, the Nazis.

Are you Pakistani, or did you merely neglect to use quotation marks?
It’s a little hard to differentiate your comments from what could well be comments by the Paki writer.

And btw: the plural of “Pakistani” is not “Pakistani’s”
I say no immigration to any country in the West, from any muslim country. Period. They don’t appear to be any different from a nazi or communist who’s desire is to destroy the host country that provides freedom and opportunity and turn it into another 3rd world, islamic $hithole and subjugate, kill or convert the enlightened ones, i.e., non-muslims. Do I make myself clear? In the meantime, the muslims that are already here are nothing more than cells waiting for the motherlode of flotsam to float ashore and continue their destruction of the West. Read “Camp of the Saints”, a great prophetic book from 35 years ago of what’s going on in the West. Sadly, most of it at our own hand. Wake up before it’s too late. Oh, and you “moderate” muslims, get out of the closet and convert to Christianity, and you’ll be spared.
Then we'd have to take over and bring demoncracy to them.
It's what we do.
Well, 1861-1865 comes to mind, but since then? Maybe Woodrow Wilson's attack on Veracruz and sending Pershing into Mexico to try to catch Pancho Villa, but the latter is debatable (since Villa had killed Americans on US soil).
Maybe some of Clinton's "wag the dog" actions...
Of course. Obama wants a reason to declare martial law. Any reason will do.
He hates America and Americans, period. All he wants is power and money.
My preference: green-light India to “take care” of the problem. India has a population advantage of about 1 billion to about 145 million....

The radicals would then have nuclear weapons.
Too bad about Pervez Hoodbhoy, he had so much to live for.
This article seems to point to the “ugly American “ , a general hatred for America,as the reason for the attack and for the hatred of America.. when the reason is ISLAM ..they hate a Christian nation.. They hate a jewish nation.. Jihad was the reason, not the ugly American ...after all Europeans have hated us a long time and never attempted to blow us up
Yeah, right /sarc
You do realize that there are non-Muslims in Muslim nations, right? Many leave and come here to live a life in peace. You gonna stop them, too?
They can ask for asylum like escapees from the Soviet Union used to do.
Islam is not compatible with the Constitution.
Now that's a sweet solution.
I like those Indian babes.
They're always so polite when I have a cell phone problem.
