Sarah Palin has angered fans by endorsing former Hewlett Packard chief Carly Fiorina instead of a more conservative challenger in her bid to become the Republican candidate aiming to unseat California Senator Barbara Boxer.
Palin, a darling of the right-wing, announced on her Facebook page on Thursday that she was backing Fiorina as she attempts to win the Republican ticket for the election in California later this year.
The 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate said she was supporting Fiorina as a "Commonsense Conservative" on the basis of her "fiscal conservatism rooted in real life experience."
"We can trust Carly to do the right thing for America?s economy and to make the principled decisions she has throughout her professional career," Palin wrote in her endorsement.
However Palin's support has enraged supporters of California Assemblyman Chuck DeVore, who view Fiorina as a RINO -- Republican In Name Only -- an epithet used by right-wingers to disparage pro-business candidates who do not always embrace socially conservative stances.
"Sorry, governor Palin, but Chuck DeVore is California's only conservative candidate for senator," one poster wrote.
"I'm very disappointed in you, Sarah. You should know better!!," another posted added.

I “like” her fine. Politics isn’t about like... LOL.
We are talking about CA Republicans. What state is totally conservative? I’m from AZ. DeVore comes across as a crybaby and I know nothing about Campbell but I haven’t lived in CA for 20 years either.
What state are you from since you aren’t flying your state flag in the forum?
Lived here since 1956...if you ask the average CA resident you will get: "Devore? Who is that?". Last I heard he was at 14...14 won't get it here.
And politics isn’t about finding the “best candidate to lose” either ... which is a “methodology” that I see a few FReepers here, in love with ... :-)
Like John McCain? LOL...
Tell me that after the primary ... :-)
Tell you that McCain was a disaster? LOL...
Maybe Devore would have become more viable with Palin’s endorsement? Why not at least give it a shot since he is a well known and articulate conservative..right?
This is not as bad as her backing of cut and run junior or McCrazy.
Well, that’s my feeling. I know what some are saying, let’s stick with the reps that we think have the best chance of winning. That hasn’t always helped, if we are voting in RINO’s. I suppose it would be better than having a dem voted in.
At least she’s got it right like Chuck DeVore ... stay away from the issue like the “plague” ... LOL ...
You’ll note that it’s okay for the “public” to ask for it (heck! I asked for it before the election, too ... :-) ...).
But, you’ll never hear her at a birther rally ... :-)
One clue for how you know that someone is “not running” for public office (or knows they’ve got “zero chance” of winning ... they’ll run on the “birther issue” or have it as a plank in their own platform...
Anyone else who thinks they’ve got any chance at all... will never run on the birther issue or come anywhere near it, no matter how much some other “MSM-liberal-journalist” tries to “suck them in on it” ... just like they tried to do to Palin, too ... :-)
Sarah Palin is smart when she deals with the media ...
Hayworth didn't stay away from the issue, and he's running against RINO too, who Palin endorsed.
A birther rally? LOL..
Oh yeah she did ... you don’t hear her talking about it at all... she hammers Obama on the issues and has no problem with that... but you never hear her hammering Obama on the birther issue ... but only if some reporter tries to press her on the issue and she has to give an answer, like she did ... :-)
On December 3, 2009, Sarah Palin was interviewed on Rusty Humphries' radio talk show. During the interview, Humphries asked Palin if she would make Barack Obama's birth certificate a campaign issue in 2012, should she decide to run. Palin responded
I think the public rightfully is still making it an issue. I don't have a problem with that. I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue, because I think that members of the electorate still want answers.
So, that's the one thing I have to give Chuck DeVore credit for ... saying it like it is -- much more than Sarah Palin did (and I do have to give him credit for being more forceful than Palin on the birther issue ... for sure ... )
The birther issue is like the "plague" for any candidate hoping to actually get into office ... :-)
She didn’t avoid the question. OTOH, Fiorina who keeps ducking whether she supports a path to citizenship. LOL...
I don't know if I would have to bother to make it an issue ...
That's what I call having nothing to do with it ... and also, that's why I say that Sarah Palin knows how to talk to the media ... :-)
