New Study “Follows the Money” of Abortion

SAN FRANCISCO, May 7, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Legal abortion in the United States is a billion-dollar industry, and one new study says that the tentacles of legal abortion have already reached deep into the commerce and culture of American life, and that motives for profit may be keeping it alive.

Vicki Evans, Respect Life coordinator for the Archdiocese of San Francisco's Office of Public Policy and Social Concerns, is the author of the study, "Commercial Markets Created by Abortion: Profiting From the Fetal Distribution Chain." The study doubled as her thesis for the licentiate in bio-ethics she received from the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University in Rome, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Evans told Catholic San Francisco, the newspaper for the Archdiocese of San Francisco that she wanted to use her training as a certified public accountant to “follow the money” between the abortion industry and commercial enterprise.

“I wanted to come up with a body of knowledge that nobody else had thought of before,” she told Catholic San Francisco. “In following the money and seeing who gets paid for what and how much they get paid, and how unregulated these areas are, I found a lot of facts that a lot of people wouldn’t have noticed or wouldn’t have thought to look for.”

In her 72-page study, Evans wanted to find out how “special interests” or “commercial cause” was now driving the abortion industry and keeping it free from transparency or regulation.

What is sick? Evans is doing a service by delivering information that sheds light on the abortionists. How is that sick?

Abortion is tied into the cosmetic industries and and others for research and services. If she writes a book on the subject I would read it.

Well, I think it’s going too far to say that no one had thought of this before. Of course we have. Abortion is an enormous industry, it is profitable, and it’s well known that folks like Tiller bribe politicians to help them out.

Planned Parenthood brings out the vote for pro-abortion politicians, and in return they ensure that Planned Parenthood has government funding. They also ensure that Planned Parenthood supervises the sex ed courses in school, which helps to produce abortion supporting voters when these kids grow up. Young people are increasingly pro-life, but the folks at Planned Parenthood have far more money than the pro-life organizations to brainwash the little kids.

And many other tentacles in this system of bribery and corruption are evident when you think about it.

But if this study goes into all that sort of thing in more detail, and gives the numbers, then it is certainly worth while.

Money. Killing for money. I haven't read the whole article yet but will. Someone mentioned cosmetics. There have been articles on FR about women being paid to have abortions in Ukraine so the dead babies can be used for high priced skin creams. Beyond disgusting, beyond evil.

From the article:

Evans also noted in her thesis that, “When abortion became legal in the United States, no one anticipated that it would give rise to a tremendous market in fetal parts, tissues and cells.”

Evans’ study revealed that the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and biologics sectors are the main industries engaged in fetal tissue research. The commercial use of fetal tissue is evolving from the mere production of childhood vaccines into the productions of vaccines that treat influenza, HIV, and others.

The cosmetics industry also has an “enormous and increasing demand” for “fetal cell technologies.” This began first with treating burn victims, said Evans, and has now made its way into the anti-aging market, a $30 billion industry: this includes miracle creams developed using fetal-cell technologies, to face lifts and cosmetic procedures derived from injecting aborted fetal tissue. The only limit to the demand for the “fetal anti-aging market” is “the amount of money available to be spent for products and procedures promising youth, beauty and vitality.”

But ultimately the demand for fetal parts and organs for scientific and commercial purposes could not have happened without the legal and cultural protections that surround abortion. Despite the fact that the aborted bodies of “millions of fetuses” cannot technically be bought or sold, a clandestine market for them exists, she said.

I have heard before that the substance that covers a baby while it is in the uterus and prevents its skin from chafing from the water is highly prized in cosmetics.

God help us.

I have tried to not give my business to businesses that support abortion providers and pro-choice people but it’s getting so hard that I would almost have to have no commercial interaction to avoid them.

There was an interesting whine from the editorial page in the Las Vegas Sun, the rag included with the Las Vegas Review Journal, that anti Roe v Wade sentiment is on the rise and that quietly under the radar several states have passed anti abortion laws. The writer was horrified to report that the number of college educated women below the age of 30 who believe that abortion is a moral evil is rising.

There is hope.

Tomorrow I will join many from my parish to offer a rosary of supplication for the end to this evil abomination in our country. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas are attempting to reach one million rosaries said for the unborn over the three days of the Mother’s Day weekend.

Jesus have mercy on us.

Years ago, a network TV news show (like “20/20”, possibly Chris Wallace) did an undercover report on the selling of body parts in abortion mills. If you have the cash, they’ll sell you whatever you want.

They put disclaimers on cosmetics that they weren’t tested on animals but I have never seen one that states that it has no aborted baby tissue, I really didn’t know I needed to worry about it.

Oh, God! Sickening! When you think of the enormous sums spent on advertising alone..... Revolting!

I have often looked at those products but have been stopped by the prices. Now I guess I'll go back to making my own from yogurt and vegetables.

I was just thinking the same thing. The people who stand outside abortion mills with signs are doing their best, but this corporate evil needs publicity, and a demand that such products be labeled. Spread the word.
