Consumer Reports magazine is lifting a "Don't Buy" recommendation for a Lexus sport utility vehicle that failed an emergency handling test. The magazine said Friday that the 2010 Lexus GX 460 luxury SUV passed the test after a dealership updated software that runs its electronic stability control system. Toyota Motor Corp. recalled about 10,000 of the SUVs in the United States in April after the magazine told readers not to buy them. The automaker also stopped selling them.
Consumer Reports said the rear of the GX 460 slid sideways when testers lifted their feet off the gas pedal during a high-speed turn on the magazine's test track. The magazine told readers not to buy the SUV because its rear wheels could slide into a curb or off the pavement, raising the risk of rolling over.
Under normal circumstances, the electronic stability control should quickly correct the loss of control and keep the SUV on its intended path. But with the GX 460, the stability control took too long to react, the magazine's engineers said.

Heh. The check cleared.
My son just bought a new one and got a great deal.
Wonder what % of the CRers are left wing democrats and voted for Ohaha.
My wife and I bought a fair amount of Toyota corporate notes a few years ago because of their AAA/AAA rating at that time and a good return promised over the years on the notes.
The meltdown brought them down some in face value, and the recalls and bs like the clown on the hiway freeway, who was too dumb to turn off his engines when his engine on his Pious supposedly was racing. Then we have this by CR. We know a lot of people who own that Lexus Suv. Many live in some rough country and in 4 seasons. We have never heard of a roll over problem with the Lexus SUV and its Toyota counterpart. I get the feeling that many of us feel CR tried to harm Toyota to help 0haha’s Gov Motors.
I have learned over the years that a reader has to take much of what Consummer Reports magazine publishes with a large grain of salt, especially when it comes to their auto tests.
We have owned 4 Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Each of them have been the best vehicles we have ever owned - highest quality and lowest maintenance costs.
consumer reports is a liberal outfit...
That misses the point. The main thing wrong with Toyota vehicles is that they compete with Government Motors.

“We have owned 4 Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Each of them have been the best vehicles we have ever owned - highest quality and lowest maintenance costs.”
My wife’s Lexus es300 will be 7 years old this month. With the exception of her breaking the remote control keys by dropping them many times with too many other keys, the car has been an excellent vehicle. We have had one problem with it. The left rear window motor stopped working. After the sales manager and I had a discussion of why my wife had a Lexus instead of a GM or Ford product we got free labor and a 50% discount on the motor.
Later I told a family member whose sons work for Toyota and Honda about the window motor going out. He said he had one question for me to consider, “Did our grandson who was 3-7 during that time period sit by that window?” If so he probably pushed the buttons trying to over ride the halt button, which apparently can ruin the motor. I replied, “He is guilty!”
Here is the story Rush was talking about about the Unions pressuring Toyota before all these stories were made up:
