20 Things You Will Need To Survive When The Economy Collapses And The Next Great Depression Begins

(This is a guest post from The Economic Collapse Blog.)
Today, millions of Americans say that they believe that the United States is on the verge of a major economic collapse and will soon be entering another Great Depression. But only a small percentage of those same people are prepared for that to happen. The sad truth is that the vast majority of Americans would last little more than a month on what they have stored up in their homes.
Most of us are so used to running out to the supermarket or to Wal-Mart for whatever we need that we never even stop to consider what would happen if suddenly we were not able to do that. Already the U.S. economy is starting to stumble about like a drunken frat boy. All it would take for the entire U.S. to resemble New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina would be for a major war, a terror attack, a deadly pandemic or a massive natural disaster to strike at just the right time and push the teetering U.S. economy over the edge. So just how would you survive if you suddenly could not rely on the huge international corporate giants to feed, clothe and supply you and your family? Do you have a plan?
[snip]
Are you prepared?

"Dont forget the cast iron cookware for fire cookin!!" You won't believe all the cast-iron stuff I inherited from my mother.
She left a giant cast-iron pot that she said her mother washed ('boiled') their clothes in over a wooden fire outside. Later, we used that pot to boil shrimp and crabs in for parties.
Actually, now that I think about it, I think that pot is on my sisters front-porch, with flowers, in Carmel, Indiana.

I have various and sundry pitch pipes lying about, but most of the time I just tune by ear. My sense of E, A and D are pretty spot-on, and as you know, if you get one string in tune, you can tune the others from there. My bass amp has a built-in tuner, and I have to admit to cheating and using it, but it won't do me a bit of good WTSHTF!

Of course it would suck. I don't think anyone on this thread is saying, "Oh hey, it'll be so much fun when things go to hell around here!!!!"
We're just talking about how to get by if it comes to it. And some of us are already returning to a more simple way of life because we want to, not because we have to.
You can plan and learn now and in the process become more self sufficient, or hope that it never happens and poke fun at the kooks.
Being prepared comes in handy under a variety of circumstances, not just "end of civilization" scenarios.
And I think we all know that dead people stink.

Take some of your own advice, eh?

Maybe he plans to give the ‘zombies’ who would rob him a good talking to?
People who live in delightful, well-mannered suburbs, who
never have to contest for their lives and property, often fail
to grasp the subtle logic of violence. It is a mistake seldom
made by hardened criminals.

I had heard there is an AK knockoff for around that price and it was actually a well built tool.
Who makes it?
BTW, you need 5000 rounds in reserve. LOL

One glaring omission ... SKILLS.
Compass is a nice paper weight if you dont know how to use it. Same goes for self defense and first aid kits.

“Fun”? Watching our republic and in fact the entire world descend into a globalist/marxist/fascist hell and we’re supposed to be having fun?
