Soviet Subversion of the Free Press: A Conversation with Yuri Bezmenov

This shocking video transcription exposes KGB's subversive tactics against western society. In this interview, Yuri Bezmenov explains how Marxist ideology is deconstructing America's values, destabilizing the economy, and provoking crises in order to sovietize the free world. ED GRIFFIN: Well, you spoke before about "ideological subversion" and that's a phrase that I'm afraid some Americans don't understand. When the Soviets use the phrase "ideological subversion" what do they mean by it?

1. YURI BEZMENOV: Ideological subversion is the process which is legitimate and open. You can see it with your own eyes.... It has nothing to do with espionage. I know that intelligence gathering looks more romantic.... That's probably why your Hollywood producers are so crazy about James Bond types of films. But in reality the main emphasis of the KGB is NOT in the area of intelligence at all. According to my opinion, and the opinions of many defectors of my caliber, only about 15% of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other 85% is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, active measures, or psychological warfare. What it basically means is: to change the perception of reality of every American that despite of the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interest of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country. It's a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages. The first one being "demoralization". It takes from 15 to 20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years required to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of [their] enemy. In other words, Marxism-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least three generation of American students without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of Americanism; American patriotism....

The result? The result you can see ... the people who graduated in the 60's, dropouts or half-baked intellectuals, are now occupying the positions of power in the government, civil service, business, mass media, and educational systems. You are stuck with them. You can't get through to them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern [alluding to Pavlov]. You cannot change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information. Even if you prove that white is white and black is black, you still can not change the basic perception and the logic of behavior.

In other words [for] these people the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible. To rid society of these people you need another 15 or 20 years to educate a new generation of patriotically minded and common sense people who would be acting in favor and in the interests of United States society.

ED: And yet these people who have been programmed and as you say [are] in place and who are favorable to an opening with the Soviet concept - these are the very people who would be marked for extermination in this country?

YURI: Most of them, yes. Simply because the psychological shock when they will see in [the] future what the beautiful society of EQUALITY and social justice means in practice, obviously they will revolt. They will be very unhappy [and] frustrated people, and Marxist-Leninist regime does not tolerate these people. Obviously they will join the [ranks] of dissenters; dissidents. Unlike the present United States there will be no place for dissent in future Marxist-Leninist America.

[Now] you can get popular like Daniel Elsburg and filthy rich like Jane Fonda for being a dissident [and] for criticizing your Pentagon. In [the] future these people will simply be [he makes a squishy noise] squashed like cockroaches for criticizing the government. Nobody is going to pay them nothing for their beautiful [and] noble ideas of EQUALITY. This they don't understand and it will be the greatest shock for them, of course.

The demoralization process in the United States is basically completed already for the last 25 years. Actually, it's over fulfilled because demoralization now reaches such areas where not even Comrade Andropov and all his experts would even dream of such tremendous success. Most of it is done by Americans to Americans thanks to lack of moral standards. As I mentioned before, exposure to true information does not matter anymore. A person who was demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him, even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents and pictures. ...he will refuse to believe it.... That's the tragedy of the situation of demoralization.

The next stage is destabilization.... It only takes 2 to 5 years to destabilize a nation. This time what matters is essentials; economy, foreign relations, [and] defense systems. And you can see it quite clearly that in some... sensitive areas such as defense and [the] economy, the influence of Marxist-Leninist ideas in the United States is absolutely fantastic. I could never believe it 14 years ago when I landed in this part of the world that the process will go that fast. Most of the American politicians, media, and educational system train another generation of people who think they are living at the peacetime. False.

United States is in a state of war; undeclared, total war against the basic principles and foundations of this system. And the initiator of this war is not Comrade Andropov of course - it's the system. However, ridiculous it may sound, [it is] the world Communist system, or the world Communist conspiracy. Whether I scare some people or not, I don't give a hoot. If you're not scared by now, nothing can scare you.

YURI: Well, the immediate thing that comes to mind is, of course, there must be a very strong national effort to educate people in the spirit of REAL patriotism, number one. Number two, to explain [to] them the real danger of socialist, communist, welfare state, Big Brother government.... The moment at least part of [the] United States population is convinced that the danger is real, they have to FORCE their government... to stop aiding Communism.

So?...Conservatives, what's the plan for RE-moralization? If we are to have any hope of saving our nation conservatives must do 2 things simultaneously:

SHUT DOWN GOVERNMENT K-12 SCHOOLING!!!

See that every child in our nation has access to a private conservative K-12 education that thoroughly integrates Judeo Christian values and our nation's founding principles into **every** course and school policy!

If conservatives were to do the above within 10 years our nation's colleges and university classrooms would be filled to the brim with youth who were prepared to defend their faith and our nation's founding values. There would be vigorous and strong conservative clubs, fraternities, and sororities. Their Marxist professors would wither before their righteousness!

Within 15 years conservative young adults would be taking their places in academia and in every area of our culture.

Within 20 years the nation would see RE-moralization. ( I just hope it is not too late.)

Yes, conservatives do rally on occasion to push back specific legislation. The Tea Parties are one example of this...but...conservatives **consistently** fail to address RE-moralization!

Those of you who know my posts, know that for years I have been warning about the extreme threat that government schools K-12 pose for our nation.

Marxism is our nation's **most** serious and urgent threat. Government K-12 schools are the Marxists' **most** important and powerful weapon against us.

Marxists have near complete control of teacher training, curriculum development, and teacher unions. When will conservatives **finally** come to understand that socialist-modeled, socialist-funded, single payer government K-12 schools can NOT NOT NOT be reformed! Government schools are the very definition of socialism and socialism can NOT be reformed!

Simply by attending children learn to be comfortable with taking other people's money to pay for a service that their parents want for tuition-free! Government schools were corrupt from the very day they opened in the mid-1800s! Within one to two generations we had the IRS, direct election of Senators, the feminist movement, unions, and the failed "one world" League of Nations. And...This was my great-grandparents' generation! My parents and grand parents thought FDR , with his socialist New Deal, was the next best thing to Moses!

My plan:

Conservatives should fund education foundations. The foundation would do the following:

** Award grants to conservative teachers who would open tuition-free one-room schools in their homes or small rented spaces. ( I will explain the need for "tuition-free" later.)

** The foundations would certify the teacher, approve the curriculum, and test the students.

**The foundations would organize sports leagues to break the monopoly that government schools have on our nation's system of minor league and farm team sports. They would also sponsor cheerleading and the other "rah rah" now associated with government schools.

** The foundations would organize community-wide science labs, band, orchestra, chorus, theater, and other arts programs.

** The foundations would organize the parents to lobby for complete shut down of government schooling, and massive reductions in property and sales taxes.

Our universities and colleges have endowments in the BILLIONS. Harvard alone has an endowment of $35 BILLION! Because government is running a price-fixed cartel, and pricing its services at tuition-free) we do not see private K-12 education equally endowed.

If government had not planted it great big hairy foot down in the middle of the private market of private schooling in the mid-1800s, perhaps today we would have private education soooooo well endowed that no child in this nation would every need to pay a dime in private school tuition!

Since our price-fixed cartel government schools are giving away its product for tuition-free, at least initially, conservative foundation schools would need to meet this price of tuition-free.

Hopefully, conservative leaders will see the need for RE-moralization and work to formulate a plan. IT IS URGENT! We must start NOW!

I was in college from ‘64 through ‘69. I saw the communists altering the minds of kids I previously had respected.

I graduated from high school in 1964, and, yes, I saw the same. Why did this happen?

Answer: It is because the youth were essentially rudderless, and too few had a firm Judeo-Christian polar star to guide their lives. Why?

Answer: By 1964 our government schools were essentially godless in their worldview. Yes, we did have a minute of two of a scripture verse and Lord's Prayer in the morning during homeroom, but for the remainder of the day **every** subject was approached, analyzed, and delivered by the teacher in a secular and godless manner.

We were taught to **think** godlessly! By the time I attended government school, this had already been the practice for several decades. Yes, our society functioned fairly well during those decades up until the late 60s, but I believe we, as a nation, were running on our spiritual reserve tank. By the time the 60s hit the tank was empty.

I had the good fortune to attend tuition-free Catholic parochial schools for 10 years. My last 2 years were in government high school. The following describes some of the practices in the Catholic schools I attended. The contrast between a Christ-centered education and the godlessly directed government education was very stark.

*** We dressed modestly because the nuns were helping us to understand that our bodies were a gift from God, housed our eternal spirits, and were literally temples.

** We asked for God's blessings on every hour and on the new topic to be studied.

** Of course there was a half hour of religious studies in the morning.

** The writings and philosophy of our church leaders were woven into all of courses.

** We studied the lives of the righteous people who opposed evil ( commonly called “saints”) and they were held up to us as heroes whose lives we should model.

** Even with subjects seem secular ( science and math) we were reminded at appropriate times that the natural world reflected God's glory and power, and it was a our duty to learn as much as possible about it.

** If we heard an ambulance, police, or fire siren, we stopped the class and said a prayer for those who might be in need.

** If a child in the school, a parent, or relative was ill we prayed for them by name.

** Every year in the spring we had a spiritual “retreat” where religious leaders from the diocese would come to the school to speak to us.

** We were encouraged to go to mass before school.

If we are to have any hope for saving this nation we MUST MUST MUST shut down the godless government schools and offer all the children in this nation a truly God-centered private education that upholds and thoroughly integrates their family's Judeo Christian values into every topic studied.

We MUST MUST MUST shut down the government schools. They are godless. Even at their best, when they opened in the mid-1800s, the religiously pablum offered up was already generic and lukewarm. It had to be if it was to be accepted by the majority of the community. ( We know what Christ does to the lukewarm.) And...As with all socialist government programs the push was always toward increasing amounts of godless secularism and greater centralization.
