"Call your state representative and senator (provided they are not pc imbeciles). Call the school and let them know that you called your state reps and senator."

That might be entertaining, but it would also be pointless: the State of Texas has almost nothing to do with public school administration in Texas.
That's why they're called "Independent School Districts."

Calling the local school board, composed of elected members, would however be useful.

Parents should call their school superintendent and school committee but it is a good idea to pull rank on them by notifying state reps and senators. Texas may have independent school districts but they are still part of the political establishment whether they be Democrat or Republican. If they create a hornets nest, the upper echelon of the party will come down hard on them.
