Washington (CNN) Sarah Palin broke ranks with the conservative movement on Thursday and endorsed former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina in California's Republican Senate primary, prompting a flurry of criticism from many of her loyal supporters.
After Palin announced the endorsement on her Facebook page, a number of her followers questioned why she would side with Fiorina instead of the more conservative candidate in the race, Assemblyman Chuck DeVore.
DeVore has the backing of several leading voices in the conservative movement, including Sen. Jim DeMint, RedState.com editor Erick Erickson and the Tea Party Express.
Though a handful of readers agreed with Palin's decision, most were upset.
"This is very, very disappointing," Rick Sheridan, one of her supporters, posted on Palin's page. "Sarah, you've got to be more careful. This woman does not represent conservative values. And the choice is so clear. Serious damage to your base here."
"Wow, Sarah...I'm saddened and shocked by your decision to endorse Carly Fiorina," commented another backer, Jennifer Goode. "Had you done your research, you would have found that Chuck DeVore is the ONLY true conservative in the California Senate race."

No matter how hard it may be for FReepers to admit it, no one can win the presidency with only conservative (or GOP) votes. Sarah can get the GOP nomination with only conservative support, but that wont win her the Oval Office. She needs the support of moderates and some dems and liberals to win a general election.
I believe this may show she is no moving to shore up support among those members of the electorate who are not 100 percent conservative. Thus, it indicates she is serious about winning the presidency.
Once Sarah is in the Oval Office we can depend on her to govern as a true conservative.
If she is pro life (and I do not know) other that being the person running against DeVore (who I like) why beat she down?
I will have to look at her record and see where she stands on all the issues. If she is for most of the conservative agenda then I will do more that just vote for her in the general. Otherwise my vote goes against Boxer and my $ goes to conservatives running to out socialist in conservative states.
Being from Ca I know what to expect in most elections:
RINO vs Socialist Liberal Evil Rat (Who is against everything I am for).
As much of a disappointment Schwarzenegger is (and he is a big disappointment) compared to the Hitler what-a-bee’s that he ran against he still was the better choice.
See posts 81 and 83 for starters.
Don’t worry folks, the Blind Sarah followers will be out shortly calling those of us who disagree with her “trolls” because we don’t gush over everything she does.
This blind following of Sarah is no more healthy than those who are star-struck with the Kenyan we have in the office now.
Since Palin decided to come out in support of the A$$HAT “Maverick” McLame, views to her threads have dropped considerably!
If the degenerate Boxer wins because the strongest candidate was RINOed out by the "real conservatives", at least, we stayed true to our principles when we returned the country to the arms of the enemy.
Great comeback.
Don't worry, no flames. I'm sure you'll manage to get what you deserve.
“It means Palin is more loyal to GOP elites than to the conservatives who think she is one of them.”
That’s what is beginning to bother me about Palin. Heretofore, I thought she was “one of us”; but, I am paying attention to her endorsements, and they bother me.

It’s on par with your gems.
Geez, why not just fall back on the ole “I’m rubber, you’re glue”? Loser.
I believe you are absolutely correct. Her trips criss-crossing the nation, and the unorthodox selection of locations and audiences indicate that she is targeting a more numerous and diverse market than any conventional (R) candidate would.
McClintock was the Republican who organized Gray Davis’ recall. Arnold did nothing to remove Davis. But Arnold was the darling of some big money GOP moderates who had been planning to take control of the CA GOP away from the conservatives.
Instead of supporting McClintock during the recall election this group put their money and organizing behind Arnold. And the rest is history. While Arnold outrages conservatives, he’s what the big money GOP moderates want. As long as they dominate the primary process in this state we will continue to get the same Democrat-lite candidates that we have suffered from for years.
I figured I’d leave that for you.
No, and I didn’t imply that Bush led to them. Got reading comprehension?
true and others have too. 30 or 40 yrs ago. california is now so far left the communists are conservative. it is unfortunate but true that reagan would never get elected if he was running now.
only out-of-touch people would assume that a conservative could not be elected there
.... sorry Tx, but you are clueless. CA Rino Central controls the money in the state GOP and always purposely starves any conservative in a race, they’d actually rather have a DemonRat than allow a conservative to move up (see Simon, McClintock etc). This year with Tea Parties giving directly to the candidate and telling NRSC to pound sand is the best chance for DeVore to knock off BoxofRocks. Maybe you missed the Rasmussen poll last month that had DeVore running BETTER against Boxer than clueless Carly. Support the conservative or get another RockefellerRepub like Arnie.
