Ulster Unionists have 8 seats. So Tories need 316 for a Conservative/Unionist majority
To: propertius
Now the BBC forcasts 308 for the tories. That will keep rising as the final results come in. If it hits 318, the tories will govern.

starting to remind me of W in 2000. He had a huge lead the whole campaign and in the end he barely squeezed through.

That party abstains on confidence votes and does not take part in coalitions. They are really not part of the total. Although I suppose they could change their policy on abstention if it made the difference.

I think 314 is enough. 362 - 4 Sinn Fein and then 8 DUP voting with the Tories.
To: GeronL
Yes they are!.
They are a far right party whose policies are based on racism, they are a racist and anti-semitic party with serious links to neo-nazis.
To: GeronL
Looks like DUP won’t back the Tories because of their threat to cut Northern Ireland’s massive public services. Very disappointing and shows how damaging to Britain this hung parliament is likely to prove.
This is not a good result. We needed a strong Tory majority.
