My mother has pointed out that there were birth announcements in newspapers in cities other than the one where I was born because we had relatives in those cities and wanted them to see the announcement. This was in 1965.

I am just saying - a birth announcement in a local paper doesn’t mean a birth in that city.

True. While my grandmother was alive, I sent announcements to the weekly paper in her hometown so that everyone would know she had another great-grandchild.
