There is no need for "uniforms" in our schools.

We managed quite well up until the early 70's with nothing more than a "dress code" that was enforced!

Girls would be asked to kneel on the floor to ensure their skirts touched the floor and boys were sent home for wearing jeans or told to get a hair cut if it or their side burns were below their ears. No t-shirts were permitted...thus no obscene, or otherwise, messages were being displayed.

It's quite simple really...have a set of rules and ENFORCE them. No need to go fascist!

school uniforms are not “fascist”-
you talk like a teenager

are baseball team uniforms fascist? are military uniforms fascist. sheesh.

the best private schools in the world have uniforms. For a reason- so do most public schools in other countries. Uniforms promote cohesion and group identity and professionalism. That is why most professionals wear uniforms.

School uniforms have helped to bring order and even pride to kids in our city elementary and middle schools. Grades and discipline have greatly improved. Teachers and most parents love it. The cost of school clothes to the parents has also gone way down and the principals don't have to spend time enforcing a dress code on bad or stupid or belligerent parents and kids who insist shanika and derrell don't have no other clothes to wear except tight shirts that don't fit and baggy pants.

Times have changed in the schools with the 3rd and 4th generation of the me- me-me generation and in certain communities, the entitled victim classes who go postal when anyone criticizes them or tells them what to do or tries to make them follow “white rules” about clothes selection. Just sayin - from personal experience.
