Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) announced Thursday he will attach language to the financial reform bill that mandates that 700 miles of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border within one year.
The senator's amendment would need 60 votes to be attached to the unrelated legislation.
“We’ve had rhetoric and promises for four years without results," he said in a statement. "It’s time we completed the fence and secured our borders to protect American citizens."
The conservative senator's request comes at a time when immigration has climbed to the top of the agenda on Capitol Hill.

In AZ they are. Only California got the high-speed/low-drag fence. We got a cobbled together POS.
The YUMA sector has some good fencing, I beleive. But you can thank Cornyn, Hutchison and Perry for killing the other 250 miles of double fencing slated for Arizona

The fence was defunded last year, so there hasn’t been any appreciable upgrades since.

Double and triple fence is definitely the answer. Too bad the rest of it won’t be built.

I think we should have 3 fences, one low barbwire, a taller fence made of ??? and a third fence inside the us borders, electrified. (Maybe a 4th fence, put up by ranchers with cattle to keep them away from the electrified one)
