When asked to comment on the “teabagger” namecalling, Tea Party spokesmen should be instructed to simply say “close enough!” with a big smile, and move on.

If pressed by an obnoxious reporter, they should innocently ask the reporter “what do you mean by ‘teabagger’?” The media outlet will cut the question (and the answer, if one is given) from the video, and that’s that.

Or, ask the reporter, would it be insulting to you if called a "Communist dirtbag"?

Now why would they do that? That doesn't even make sense. Your other idea about asking them what teabagger means is ok.
