And they blame everything on the on-line environment. They should try not being so far left. That might just help sales.....

Why? Clean house.

Pay for a weekly column by Steyn, Coulter, etc. We have plenty of in-house conservative talent that would flourish with such a platform.

Steyn is the only thing keeping Maclean’s alive these days.

Who would pay one penny for this dead tree propaganda rag? Newsweek long ago destroyed all its credibility.

Someone approached Rush Limbaugh asking him if he was interested. On air he said only if he changed the content and then discussed the success of his newsletter...

I offer to buy it for the amount of its outstanding debt, fire the staff (no severance), and then default on the debt.

"But Newsweek, along with Time magazine and U.S. News & World Report, faces a particular challenge finding a relevant niche in the age of up-to-the-second online news."

The news magazines have always had a "relevant niche".....in-depth analysis. I used to read all three back before they became liberal propaganda organs. Time went first, then Newseek. USN&WR held out the longest before succumbing to the socialist propaganda disease, but it "went bad" as well. Once people realized that they were not getting un-biased news, circulation dropped, and has continued to drop. Nowadays, I can get more honest (if not in as much depth) news analysis online. Good riddance.

Who in their right mind reads the despicable, flamingly dishonest Newsweek?

Libraries (in schools and public libraries) and waiting rooms probably account for a significant portion of market share.

If CNN wasn’t forced on viewers in doctor’s offices and airports it’s ratings would probably be on par with MSNBC.

I’d pay a penny for it, just to have the satisfaction of firing the entire staff. =)

I would actually double that and turn the remnants of the company into a garbage collection agency.

If they really want to go green, they should recycle the Newsweek run as it comes off the presses.

The only chance of success would be to turn it into Newsweek People and write about celebrities. Ha!

Newspapers in the U.S. could be such a great educational tool. They are an amazing study in information gathering, collation, production and distribution. It’s just a damned shame the left corrupted them to the point the populace refuses to read that pap any longer. And I don’t mention price, because people don’t even read this rubbish when provided with the paper for free. In the hospital, the papers are tossed in the trash brand new. You’ve got to have your head pretty far up there not to understand this, when your job is to sell the damned things so you can turn a profit.

You are exactly right. Publish the news unbiased by the reporters that write it and it would succeed.

I’d bet somewhere in their back offices, some guy is thinking to himself “I bet if we supported waterboarding and Bush generally, we’d have gotten enough Conservative subscribers to stay open.”
