ATHENS, Greece Deadly riots over harsh new austerity measures engulfed the streets of Athens on Wednesday, killing three bank workers as angry protesters tried to storm parliament, hurled Molotov cocktails at police and torched buildings.
Tens of thousands of people took to the streets as part of nationwide strikes to protest new taxes and government spending cuts demanded by the International Monetary Fund and other European nations before heavily indebted Greece gets a euro110 billion ($141 billion) bailout package of loans to keep it from defaulting.
The three bank workers a man and two women died after demonstrators set their bank on fire along the main demonstration route in central Athens. As their colleagues sobbed in the street, five other bank workers were rescued from the balcony of the burning building.

Where’d that photo come from? Something wrong with it. Look at the lines just to the left of the policeman on the ground and then going up the photo about two thirds of the way to the top. It’s been messed with by an amateur.

One thing I’ve always noticed: when the IMF starts dictating rules on a nation’s economy, that nation usually ends up going into a never ending death spiral of chaos, bloodshed and poverty.

I'm afraid that what we'll see will be nothing like this...it will be far worse. You are correct.

Where did they come from? I am not the copyright police. It looks to me like some reporter is trying to sensationalize the story photos so I am curious.

This is constitution square. the only rioting place.
That little house is one of the guard stations at the tomb of the unknown soldier.
There is another guard house opposit and the memorial is in the center of the marble and square pattern.
If you do right down the middle to the right there is a building with McDonalds. To the right of the picter is the Grand Britagne Hotel.
The anarchist mob is stopped at the streed that divides constitution square's upper portion.it is usually where tourist busses stop.

I guess this wouldn’t be a good time to vacation in Greece...
I saw pics of their airport, and all flights showed canceled.
