A few decades ago, Soviet Communism looked invincible. Then, almost overnight, the monster deflated. I’m hoping for a similar event to discredit Islam. Will we be ready when a billion of our neighbors on this globe are suddenly in the market for a better way to think and live?
Soviet Communism was about a seventy year experiment. Islam has been around for going on fourteen centuries. There won't be any overnight deflation of Islam. It'll be a matter of centuries, if it happens at all.
The Soviet Union was populated by Westerners. Here is why this will not happen to Islam:
Unfortunately, the Muslim concept of honor transforms especially their men into fragile glass-like personalities that need to protect themselves by scaring their surroundings with their aggressive attitude. The show of so-called narcissistic rage is very common among Muslims.
This hypersensitivity to criticism and the compelling need to destroy the critic is classic narcissism. Narcissism is not something easily cured.
