The Scud missiles transferred from Syria to Hizbullah recently are just the tip of the iceberg, a top IDF intelligence officer told the Knesset Tuesday. snip...
Syria has a very prominent role in enlarging the arsenal of rockets in Hizbullah's hands, he said. Weapons transfers to Hizbullah from Syria are carried out in a regular manner and are arranged by the Syrian and Iranian regimes. Therefore this should not be termed 'weapons smuggling to Lebanon' it is an organized, officially sanctioned process.
Even without the recent Scud transfers, Baidatz said, Hizbullah possesses an arsenal of thousands of rockets of all types and ranges including solid-fuel missiles with a longer range and more accuracy [than the Scuds].

“I’ll see you, and raise you.”
Hey Israel you got what will take all those missles out with one push of a button. Do it. I for one am tired of their crap.
Ping
That’d kinda mess up the whole neighborhood, including Israel.
Unless the wind models are favorable and predictable.
Actually it would take few button pushes. But they would not do it that way. They'd take 'em out with smart bombs from F-15I's and F-16Is.
You'd kill a lot of Christian Lebanese if you nuked the place. Might still come to that, but I'm sure Israel would rather it not.
Gee, a violation of the peace agreement.

To launch an American missile you need “the two man rule”. Meaning it takes two turns of a key to launch at the same time to launch flight of 10 missiles. This rule may not be in play in Israel with their missiles.
On a submarine, both the commanding officer and executive officer must agree that the order to launch is valid, and then mutually authorize the launch with their operations personnel.
That's our subs, the Israelis may have other procedures.
Our missile launch control facilities, (I've been in three different types, plus a Titan complex, but I did not get to the control room on that old thing (old in '76).) are the same. Takes two officers to turn keys, and the key switches are too far apart for one person to do it close enough together in time for it to work. The Minuteman III LCF looked just like the one in "War Games", except that one looked more like one of our simulators of the era, since it did not look like it was inside a steel egg on shock absorbers many tens of feet below the ground.
But that's ours, again the troops manning the Israeli Jerichos may work differently.
But the LCF in "War Games", and the procedures, documents and even the code "disks" were so realistic, it creeped out my steely eyed missile launch officer turned nasty sneaky intell officer buddy. But then again he was so SACemsized, it didn't take too much in those days, which were not many years after he left SAC.
I have been to the missile silos at Vandenberg AFB
To them or in them? I was in at least one, back in '76. Well actually two, the other was that Titan site. But it had a live/fueled bird and the crew was not happy about a couple of guys from Missile facilities being in the tunnel, let alone the command center or silo under those conditions, so we exited stage UP right quick like. That was same silo I'd seen a launch from when I was there for ROTC field training in ='71. It was actually fairly close to our barracks. Close enough that the mussel looked to be the size of a pencil held at arms length as it rose up over the buildings. It was near the south end of the runway. I'm sure it's gone and imploded as a sacrifice to the START gods.
In them.
