It was absolutely excessive force. Many people have died as a result of taser shocks. It is not intended to be a convenient form of crowd control for the police. There are too many police who feel they can use the taser without any attempt to restrain the person physically. This won’t be a joke when the Obama-bots start using tasers on Tea Party members they decide are “unruly”.

I sort of agree in that the use of tasers seems to have resulted in many unintended deaths. On the other hand, people who would run onto the field like that should realize they are taking a risk of that sort.

Probably what needs to happen is that they need to post signs every 15 feet saying “anyone who breaches this fence line without express and proper authority is subject to physical restraint including being tazed”... or along that line so that it is clear that would be a consequence.

Of course they would have to put that up there in 12 languages or some non-English speaker will sue...
