“Ground crews said they noticed something strange about the luggage and were working to remove it when it exploded”.
What could possibly be “strange” about small luggage?
It must have had a Tea Party bumper sticker on it or something.
Fox just reported that the loud sound was made from the ground crew dropping a piece of luggage and the luggage made a loud sound. Nothing exploded.
Note: I was worried when I saw the plane was a 747 from overseas.

We use USMC bumper stickers on ours. That would probably do it.
