With key House Republicans narrowing in on key House races in a growing attempt to regain the majority in this years midterm elections, GOP candidates who have met key benchmarks are beginning to receive initial checks from their House leadership. Bernard Sansaricq was singled out for this honor after confirmation of his having qualified for the ballot.
A day after qualifying for the ballot, House Leader John Boehner sent Sansaricq a kickoff check of $4,500. These checks are only being sent to key districts where candidates have achieved unprecedented grassroots support or have achieved other defined milestones.
Floridas 23rd district is one of the states best kept political secrets. In a midterm, voter turnout is minimal. There is also more dissatisfaction with the incumbent congressman, Alcee Hastings, than there is in almost any other district in the nation. This deep seated dissatisfaction cuts across party lines and, given the current economic climate, has become firmly entrenched. In short, Floridas 23rd has the makings of a political upset.

Hastings ran unopposed in 2006 and won with 82% of the vote in 2008. Hard to believe this seat is in play.
Hastings was elected to congress after Congress impeached him from his Federal Judge position for fraud and accepting bribes. If the people in this District finally see the light, it will be the first time.
Obama made 23 ground zero in Florida last time. Republicans have won before and gotten over 30%. Bernard is making inroads among key pastors, who comprise huge voting blocks in that district.
The district is weird and in a midterm, few people vote. Dissatisfaction with Alcee is incredible. It’s shaping up nicely.
If Sansaricq were to win, it would be the upset of not only these midterms, but perhaps of all time. In the 2004 and 2006 elections Hastings ran unopposed.
