More sad photos here. It’s called “Italian style” though last time I checked the Italians had better taste, especially in Italy and for $9M.

Very interesting Moorish details however. Hat tip to the Arabs, Al?

Mostly it’s screaming California nouveau (riche). Half Spanish grandee, half shack. Way too close to the neighbors and the road. Convenient to looting revolutionary mobs who will come in the name of the People. (Of Aztlan.)

That is a very gloomy, depressing house, and way over-priced!

Actually, no, it's not italianate, in the Spanish Colonial Revival style designed by the very yankee doodle dandy popularizer of that style George Washington Smith, originally a painter from the East, but studied architecture at Hahvahd & set up shop in Santa Barbara. His houses are highly prized by architecture buffs, myself included.

This house is on Mesa Road, and I've had my eye on it for a while. It's undergone extensive renovations and it looks like (if the story is correct) the Gores got a couple of mil knocked off the tab.

Dayum. I can't believe that fat tacky huckster stole my dream house!AAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
