Hey, at least you’ve seen a little of which you speak...more than I can say for a lot of FReepers quick to jump on the “Boycott and Bash California” bandwagon. Not to mention 27 years here has left me a little jaded. Most of the liberal lunacy here is concentrated in Santa Cruz proper and the University. The rest of the county isn’t that bad.
CA in general is going down the toilet but some us are clinging to the rim.

My wife and I love going to Santa Cruz. We have family in the Bay area, and we always drive south to Santa Cruz for a day on our yearly trip from Portland, OR. My kids love the boardwalk, and I just always feel very relaxed there. I won't let the kooky leftists who run that city ruin my experience, and I will continue to visit on our annual trip. Before we had kids, my wife and I used to stay at the Chaminade resort. Now, we day trip it from the city.
