I suspect the following:

a) conspiratorial yet with few involved

b) amateurish

c) lone wolf (with the exception a few people knew in Pakistan and USA)

d) not highly professionally trained and targeted Lakshar e Taiba terrorist activity, as the jehadi would have been much more trained in bomb construction, placement, as well as escape and evasion tactics in a several week to several month course or courses in Pakistani terror camp areas (or Paki occupied Kashmir).

Sounds like a free lancer with a little bit of help. There must be HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of these sleepers hanging around the US waiting to self activate. Just my initial impressions. I am going to check the Indian and Paki press now, which might be a lot more active and up to date than middle of the night US jaded and insular MSM. There MAY have been a tie in to the impending verdict on Kasab over the 26/\11 Mumbai attacks, as a Pakistani, but have some doubts.

Its actually Hundred of Thousands, if not MILLIONS. They tend to congregate in and around buildings called mosques. They go by the code name "MUSLIMS".
