This guy was obviously a bit of an amateur if he didn’t have a backup passport ready or any other ways to hide his identity.
If he was caught with a cell phone, that would be VERY helpful to search for information about any recent contacts since the plot failed.
....right after he is done using it to call a lawyer of course.....
