College student David Kernell has been found guilty of hacking into Sarah Palin's e-mail
A jury decided 22-year-old David Kernell was guilty of obstruction of justice and unauthorised access of a computer, though he was cleared of a wire fraud charge.
In a statement issued on her Facebook page, Palin thanked the jury and prosecutors and explained the case's importance: "Besides the obvious invasion of privacy and security concerns surrounding this issue, many of us are concerned about the integrity of our country's political elections.
"America's elections depend upon fair competition."
The statement continued: "Violating the law, or simply invading someone's privacy for political gain, has long been repugnant to Americans' sense of fair play.
"As Watergate taught us, we rightfully reject illegally breaking into candidates' private communications for political intrigue in an attempt to derail an election."
In September 2008, Kernell gained access to Palin's personal account by guessing the answers to security questions.

It is not last weeks news. He wasn’t convicted of anything and they had a hung jury on one count.
You are full of it. It was not on here before. Last week the jury said they had reached a verdict on 2 counts and couldn't decide on the last count. The verdict was not released and no one knew if he was convicted or acquitted of the 2 charges. Why do you idiots keep saying it broke last week when it didn't? It is not the posters fault that several of you on this thread can't remember what they read from one day to the next.

April 30 is 2 - 3 days ago the way we reckon time here on Earth. (Who, exactly is the idiot here?)
The same was true of the case from 2004 (that took years to go through the courts) where the son of an elected Democrat slashed the tires of GOP “get out the vote” vans on election day.
The people were convicted but the family name was never in the headline.
Even when Levi Johnston’s mother did something last year, it was Sarah Palin who’s name was in the headline.
