Except for Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day, I don’t fly the colors. Haven’t since the day before Inauguration Day. I do, however, fly the Gadsen Flag [4’x6’] every day. That’s my protest.
If you want more bang for your buck while flying your Gadsden, may I suggest you stand outside and have a cigarette while you're admiring the view? THAT drives 'em over the cliff like lemmings.
The rest of the time I fly a Patriot's Flag that matches the "mood" of my blog. There are some BEAUTIFUL patriot flags. We're used to seeing the Gadsden Flag, but there are many more. And they make a fine statement in the neighborhood. You can see my flags at the Patriot Flag Blog's Gallery. Notice the SC Sovereignty flag ... that's a pretty one. But as I said, they are not just pretty, they make a statement. People see them and wonder what they are. So I've learned the history on each one (and some of these are fascinating) and discuss the flags with them and why I fly them.
If you are looking to "make a statement" with a flag ... try the above. Keep "half mast" for "real" memorials and UP SIDE DOWN for "real" emergencies. There are other ways to "protest" with a flag as I've demonstrated. One day I may do it, but if you see my USA up-side-down, you'll know I've already got the banana clip inserted into the, uh, ... well you know.
