Rachel Uchitel Is Not a Madam ($3000 for a table mister?)
New York Magazine ^ | 5/4/2010 | Lisa Taddeo

" What the hosts do is more like placement. ...At the door, a host will procure a man’s credit card and his I.D. and quote him what the minimum will be at a certain table. Table minimums are usually around $1,500 at clubs in Manhattan, but a prime spot can go for as much as $30,000. And Uchitel has seen bills of $245,000 and higher for patrons who are buying huge Methuselahs of Champagne—the equivalent of eight standard bottles in one—or, in their schnockered magnanimity, have decided to treat other tables to rounds of Cristal."

No she isnt a mmadam, she is a B-girl, much lower on the evolutionary scale.

Most prostitutes are at least honest and give a day —15 minutes-— work for a day’s pay. B-girls lead on the suckers and give nothing. Until they hit a rich jackpot.

I used to wonder about this phenomena of the "Rich and Famous" partaking of the use of the paid sex trade, which when you come right down to it, extends from the street walker with needle-tracks to the most beautiful mistress in a Park Avenue apartment. It was when the Hugh Grant scandal (1995) broke and you had to work out why, with a companion like Elizabeth Hurley, he still went and got a street hooker of the working name of "Divine Brown".

The most logical explanation that I heard then and still rings true now is that when you are one of the successful, there are times when you don't want anything but some relief without any obvious consequences. A "sex worker" picked up at random from the streets or from a reputable madam is unlikely to pursue you or ask for further favors or hold you for blackmail for minor picadillos.

Tiger obviously went overboard and that was a train-wreck just waiting to happen. Same for Elliot Spitzer and John Edwards and we will just have to see about others who may come along.

Agreed about the B-girls. They do it looking for longterm sugar daddys. A lot of fantasy is involved in their lifestyles. Hooking is much more simple and based in reality.
